Very interesting and moving because the author who is a therapist suffered from a very deep depression and tried to commit suicide. Linehan and for her contributions to psychiatry and the treatment of BPD, but this book is kind of terrible. It's like looking at the night sky in the city, where you see points of light from planets and stars here and there, but mostly it is unbroken blackness.Linehan shows, in Building a Life Worth Living, how the principles of DBT really work--and how, using her life skills and techniques, people can build lives worth living.

Maybe it's already obvious, I am a huge fan of Linehan and her therapy teachings, I imagine most people who pick up this book will be. My experience at the institute was one of descending into hell, an out-­of-­control storm of emotional torture and absolute anguish. Marsha Linehan holds absolutely nothing back, making good on the vow she made as a young woman to escape hell and help others do the same. My popularity extended beyond having a lot of friends to being elected and nominated to important class roles in junior year and senior year. She would sit down and listen and remind those most troubled in the world that their life is most certainly, A life worth living.

For those who are looking for more of a traditional memoir, just come in ready to learn a lot about DBT itself. a patient once asked Marsha Linehan, the world-renowned psychologist who developed Dialectical Behavior Therapy. It was very interesting to read of a therapist who has suffered from the same challenges that her patients are experiencing.

Linehan is a truly heroic figure, someone who encountered enormous obstacles, including her own mental health problems, and yet never gave up and went on to pioneer an unorthodox and revolutionary treatment for some of therapy's most difficult-to-treat patients. As she maps the necessary skills and an actionable framework for meaningful connection, she gives us the language and tools to access a universe of new choices and second chances - a universe where we can share and steward the stories of our bravest and most heartbreaking moments with one another in a way that builds connection. She is also working to develop effective models for transferring science-based treatments to the clinical community. Shocking and heart-wrenching on one end, triumphant on the other, and an inspiration of hope all the way through. The majority of her anecdotes appeared to have zero point to them or did not relate to the rest of the chapter.
