S. gets a rare treat— a gin that preceded the Gin Renaissance and has thrived in the past fifteen years. Johnny Neill’s gin evokes childhood memories of visiting his grandparents on their farm by taking a firm Whitley Family favourite in rhubarb and placed a warm twist on this with the addition of fresh ginger. The gin has a nice pleasant mouthfeel and the finish brings back some of that juniper that was present on the nose.Post-war, the Whitley Family, were living in rural England near Daresbury and they cultivated their garden with thrilling flavours, serving as inspiration for both the table and indeed their experimentation with new gins.
