About this deal

Warts and verrucas are small, rough lumps or growths on your skin caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). Prescription-strength wart medications with salicylic acid work by removing a wart a layer at a time. One application is usually sufficient with the verruca or wart dissapearing or falling off over the next 10 days. Cryotherapy is done in a clinic and involves applying liquid nitrogen to the wart, either with a spray or a cotton swab. The main downside is that the stuff comes out of the tube fast when you first open it, so be careful not to get it on healthy skin.

If it is painful when you pinch the area (like when you squeeze a spot), you are likely to have a verruca. Bazuka Sub-Zero should not be used more than 3 times on individual warts or verrucas, and each freezing application should be at least two weeks apart. This pen applicator from foot health specialist Scholl makes easy work of treating verrucas that you can’t see or reach very well. The most common appearance is that of a small cauliflower-type growth on the soles of your feet with tiny black dots. The treated area is likely to blister within a few hours, depending on the depth and duration of the freeze.CryoCones are placed over the lesion, creating a seal, and the cryogen is sprayed directly onto the lesion.

It is also a good idea to wear flip-flops when using communal showers, as this may reduce the chance of catching or passing on virus particles from verrucas. Most verruca treatments fall into one of two categories: acid gels, which contain salicylic or similar acid to remove the dead skin that forms in thick layers on top of a verruca, or cryotherapy foams, which freeze and kill the verruca from the inside. Evidence suggests that, in many cases, verrucae will disappear of their own accord, within six months for children but taking longer for adults (up to two years). If there are multiple verrucas or warts, treat only one at a time - treat each remaining verruca or wart separately with a 2 week interval between treatments. It should not be used on feet which have reduced feeling or poor circulation (such as if you have diabetes).

Other tips include wearing flip-flops in communal areas, not sharing towels, shoes and socks, and treating conditions such as Athlete’s Foot with a specialist treatment from the pharmacist. Half the number of children with warts will find they have disappeared within a year without any treatment. Read on to learn about cryotherapy, including how it compares to other treatments for warts, what the procedure is like, and the recovery process. If treatment has not worked or you have a wart on your face, the GP might refer you to a skin specialist (dermatologist).Verruca-Freeze is cleared to treat 21 of the most common benign skin lesions, including common warts, plantar warts, sun spots, and age spots. Or your health care provider might cut off a small section of the growth and send it to a lab for testing. But this no-nonsense approach does speed things up, and should obliterate even the most stubborn verruca within five days.

Several treatment sessions may be needed and the overall cure rate varies from 39% to 84% at three months. Due to the temperature of the gas, after just a few seconds of use, the core of the wart will be reached and destroyed.
