My initial impression of this book was that it was a sweet, historical cozy mystery, but as I read further along I realized it had unexpected heart and depth. The single was Rodman's fourth-issued single and her only song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

No one, especially someone as delicate-looking as Marianne, deserved a fate as horrible as being married to the Wolf. And if distance and the earth's curvature were not a big enough obstacle, the Cherbourg Peninsula in between the two would certainly block the view. I thought the opportunity to get to do something like this was absolutely wild – so I took it with both hands! Truthfully I am not the biggest fan of “insta love” scenarios like this but the author did a great job of making it feel realistic.
I loved the diversity and the way I could sense Ambers personality and manner of speaking through the blog drafts. So desperate, in fact, that she'd released her horse after a couple of days out of fear that someone would recognize it. Of course, at the heart of the story is romance – that of Arlette and of Betty – and indeed all sorts of relationship are explored in the novel. Then I was reminded of her situation and had to let it slide, mostly because she recognised it herself and fixed up 😂.

As Samantha and Roman spend more time together under the tropical sun, lines between friendship begin to blur, until secrets put everything they thought they had found in jeopardy and it will take every inch of Samantha’s strength to fight for what she truly wants.I could imagine the vividly painted picture of 1920's London, with the music and the frolicking (yes, dammit, people frolicked! I love the island of Guernsey, so I enjoyed the descriptions of that setting, but it is London that really comes alive on the pages. One clue as to which character Amber sees herself as though – it’s not her leading lady Samantha, a travel blogger who Amber describes as having ‘independent boss girl vibes’. I would have loved to have seen the one and only sex scene not fade to black, I’m not saying it had to be top level smut, but just a little more than we got. Romance aside because I just felt like everything was rushed into a one week timeline, I just didn’t care for Roman.
