About this deal

Hearing his stories of growing up in the limelight, albeit not as strong as some of his costars, was very interesting. You won’t find one bit of salacious gossip or back-biting toward anyone he acted alongside, which was soooo refreshing.

His accounts of his auditioning process were also very interesting and I enjoyed seeing the progression of how he got to where he is today. FP: Toward the end of the book, you so eloquently open up about your struggles while living in Los Angeles, and your time in rehab, which is a very vulnerable topic. There will also be a simultaneously published audiobook version read by Tom, published by Penguin Random House Audio in the UK and Hachette Audio in the US.

His early rise to fame saw him catapulted into the limelight aged just twelve when he landed the iconic role of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films.

Now with humor, candor, and a gift for storytelling, Tom shares what it was like to grow up at the center of the zeitgeist, the lasting friendships he made on set, and what it was like to navigate fame after the series was done. It was only through the encouragement of others who said that it's quite uplifting to hear other people talk about their own struggles. Whatever the reason, when I saw that Tom Felton - “Draco” of Harry Potter movie fame - had written a memoir, my curiosity was piqued!

I was the only black girl making white girl money,” she boasts, telling a vibrant story about sex and struggle in a bygone era. I, of course, picked up this book as someone who has been a Harry Potter fan since I was a teenager.

As a Harry Potter fan and muggle, Beyond the Wand took me back to the years I spent immersed in the world of Hogwarts. He tells all about his big break, what filming was really like and the lasting friendships he made during ten years with the franchise, as well as the highs and lows of fame and the reality of navigating adult life after filming finished. Along the way he shares fond memories of encounters with everyone from Judi Dench to the late Robbie Coltrane, and speaks poignantly of his close friendship with fellow Harry Potter star Emma Watson. FP: In the book you talk about how, upon landing the role as Draco, you were very blasé about receiving the news. we live in a world where we seem increasingly in need of ways to unify ourselves, ways to build bridges and feel as one.

I've had these stories in my head for decades, and it's been such a great experience for me to spend time putting quill to parchment. Like many former child actors, Felton struggled with addiction as an adult, and the back third about rehab and recovery is compelling. An audiobook edition, read by the author, will be released simultaneously by Hachette Audio in the US and Penguin Random House Audio in the UK. minor spoilers* i had no clue he had been to rehab multiple times, or that he had dated jade for so long! FP: I truly am so sorry to hear about Robbie's passing over this past weekend and wanted to just express my deepest sympathies to you and your cast mates. Beyond the Wand,” Tom Felton’s self-portrait of child stardom and adulthood aimlessness, follows beats not unlike the arc of his Harry Potter performances. He’ll share hilarious behind the scenes anecdotes, never-before-heard stories about your favourite cast members, as well as discussing the highs and lows of fame and the reality of navigating adult life after filming finished.
