For a start, Afrikans are not indigenous to America (those African Americans telling you otherwise are people you definitely should ignore). So maybe I'm prejudiced against these books because they're sold at Urban Outfitters or the Barnes and Noble gift section, and they're as much toy as book. The reality is that racism and colonialism on a global level impoverish Nigeria to the point the state cannot support its citizens (yes, you are still Black in Nigeria). It’s very impressive because from parts one to three, the author created only one focal setting- the school, but she managed to make the reader imagine a decaying world infested with flesh eating living dead outside the school.

Not because I don't trust my wonderful Alien friend (Anna), and not because I don't love dystopian anymore. It allows you to be creative without having to be a master painter etc etc, you can embrace your own unique style and tackle every page in a way that suits and excites you. This is just a warning for others, like myself, who aren't really into gory books, because I wouldn't want anyone to not read this book just because of that. A sense of desperation, of oppression and of uneasiness bleeds from the pages of this book in a way I really can't help but admire.
