About this deal

Number one was always going to be a toss up between the Babyteeth EP and Troublegum, but since we’re only doing full length albums it goes to Troublegum. On 18 February 2014, the band began pre-production on studio album number 14 with producer Tom Dalgety in their now usual surroundings of Blast Studios in Newcastle. We were this band from the noise-rock underground, our bassist wore glasses, we had short hair at a time when short hair was viewed with suspicion in the world of metal. When I grew up I never really liked metal-one of misconceptions is that we grew up listening to metal but Michael is the one with an encyclopaedic knowledge of heavy rock and its sub genres. I was just partying way too much, and Michael was desperately trying to keep the whole thing together.

Therapy? in depth interview about Troublegum tour and new album

This was the third record we made with Neil Cooper [drums], and he’d really established himself as a really shit hot drummer by this point. But we listen to so many different styles of music and sometimes the things that we try fail; you’re always going to have that when you’ve got 12 albums like we have. The verse rhythm for Bad Excuse for Daylight is taken from Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring too, and then we had a dubstep chorus come in. By the 14th of July we were in the studio in Chipping Norton and spent 10 or 12 days doing the basic tracks.A compilation of the two albums titled Caucasian Psychosis was prepared for the North American market, [4] and the band embarked on their first U. The Semi-Detached album transcended the trajectory of Troublegum and Infernal Love with their dark, broody atmosphere. We’ve been friends with him for years and he’s never pushed himself on us or asked to produce one of our albums, he’s just always said ‘I’m around if you want. On 16 January 2020, the band announced that they would be releasing a greatest hits compilation, titled Greatest Hits (The Abbey Road Session). are a Northern Irish rock band from Larne, formed in 1989 by guitarist-vocalist Andy Cairns and drummer-vocalist Fyfe Ewing.

The move was helped by Lesley Rankine of Silverfish, who passed the band's first single on to Gary Walker of Wiiija. The band performed the new album in its entirety on selected live dates in May, played various European festivals throughout the summer (including a debut appearance at Oxegen in Ireland and a second outing at England's Download) and toured Europe extensively from October to December. Initially what happened with this record was in January 1996 our original drummer Fyfe Ewing left the band, and because things had been so tense between all three of us we decided that whatever drummer we got in next would be a bit more of a ‘life and soul of the party’ type character, since the last Infernal Love tour that we did in 1995 with the original line-up wasn’t any kind of fun at all. He is still waiting for Billy Gibbons to send him a bottle of hot sauce he was promised several years ago.If I ever needed inspiration, I would pick an oboe part in a movie orchestra and try to play it on guitar. And my green pressed vinyl is still holding up well today despite the parties it's played background to.
