About this deal

The class is run by a mother-daughter duo, which just adds to the intimate, homey feel, and I love the idea that such an experience can shift your whole relationship with food and eating. Although everyone knows Gracie as someone who hates leaving the comfort of her small town in England, she makes the seemingly crazy decision to travel to Italy. Everybody seems to love Sofia except for Anna, her Irish mother who visits her sense of inadequacy and alienation on her daughter. A quick glance at the blurb gave the impression of a cliche romantic story of an old woman going to find the long lost love of her life.

Review: The Temptation Of Gracie By Santa Montefiore Review: The Temptation Of Gracie By Santa Montefiore

Santa Montefiore reuseste sa redea atmosfera toscana, sa te faca sa iti doresti sa vizitezi zona, sa gusti mancarea, sa iti bucuri ochii cu privelisti minunate. The Temptation of Gracie is a feel-good book that’ll make you emit a happy sigh and want to cook spaghetti with your family members. Creează o stare de nerăbdare la aflarea secretelor - care nu sunt puține - și plăcere de a descoperi gândurile și trăirile fiecărui personaj în parte. It wasn't necessary to go into so much detail about Flappy and her nature and various eccentricities and acquaintances. The setting and the cookery school have a magical effect, opening up the hearts of all (and believe me, you can feel the author’s writing opening your heart and the warmth spreading). If the ladies of the book club knew the real Gracie it would give them enough news fodder to feed off and dine out on for many years to come. The author weaves the past with the present to convey the story as our main female protagonist Gracie is forced to confront what she has kept hidden deep inside her for so many years. I felt we flitted a little bit too quickly between Gracie's recollections of the past and the goings on in the present.

The Temptation of Gracie by Santa Montefiore | Goodreads

This is actually a story about a woman, now a grandmother, who is looking back over her life and wondering if she has time to right old wrongs. As the country prepares to celebrate Prince Charles’ wedding to Lady Diana, Libby wants to be as far away from royal wedding fever as possible. I can heartily recommend - perfect for a summer read though beware, you may end up engrossed and get sunburnt. I want to help you find the best books to read so you won’t ever have to worry about your next read!As this was the best part of the book I won't delve into any detail as to what led Gracie to living such an extra ordinary life.

The Temptation of Gracie - Santa Montefiore

Santa Montefiore in 2013Gracie Burton is an unassuming widow, living independently with her two dogs and keeping herself busy by involving herself in various village activities in Badley Compton in Devon. I loved the setting of Tuscany- the author really managed to evoke the beautiful scenery and I felt as if I was really there. An aristocratic French family, a legendary château, and buried secrets with the power to destroy two generations torn between duty and desire. While it gives her neighbours in the village something to gossip about, it gives her daughter Carina something to worry about. When Gracie Burton stumbles upon an advertisement for a week-long cookery course in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, she cannot resist, and ploughs her life savings into the trip.At first, Carina, cannot see the point of taking time away from her busy work schedule to figure out her secretive mother. Told in a beautiful writing style with an incredible setting and characters you’ll identify with, I’ve no doubt your heart will be swept away too. Gracie claims to have led an unremarkable life and no one has any reason to disbelieve her – not even her nearest and dearest.

The Temptation of Gracie by Santa Montefiore | Waterstones

However, her announcement of traveling to Italy all of a sudden shocks everyone in the town including her daughter. She was only in her late sixties but the way sentences were written and that Carina and Anastasia at times treated Gracie as if she was feeble and very vulnerable when she was very much strong and alive and kicking made me think I was reading about a much older woman perhaps heading into the final stage of her life. As an avid reader who enjoys traditional books, audiobooks, and even e-books, my goal is to make your next book choice much easier. That I never got a chance to fully absorb, digest and contemplate what was going on in the time period I was reading about. This novel takes place in two time frames, when Gracie is young in her early twenties when she is living in Italy and also in the present day when she embarks upon a bonding holiday with her estranged family. When Gracie Burton stumbles upon a weeklong cooking course at Castello Montefosco , a castle in the sun-kissed Tuscan countryside, she cannot resist the opportunity to revisit the past she left behind in Italy.
