About this deal

But why would she say that Anna wasn't safe in her own home, unless she knew that Anna was in protection too and could possibly be found by HER bad guy? It’s pretty obvious who all the residents are on The Street and some of what goes on is a bit of a stretch but I can’t deny the entertainment value. And maybe a bit of fun with Lars might not be a bad thing… A fling with a people trafficing, drug barron might be just the thing.

Having only one handler for everyone didn't seem like a big deal and could have still been done even with everyone living in different areas. I could say more but I’m trying to avoid spoilers and I honestly don’t want to waste any more time or brain space on this. The premise is interesting: a couple in the witness protection program is moved to a tony beachside street.

While many tabloid journalists may make things up like a novelist, and both may have financial reasons for what they are doing, ultimately novelists, when they are doing their job properly, not only avoid outright lies, they can do a better job at helping us to question society and the way things are. However even after Holly makes a miraculous recovery, Chrissie is just convinced that it’s some coincidence. A lifelong fan of crime and horror, her short stories have been published in various places, and she was shortlisted for the inaugural CWA Margery Allingham Prize. Huge thanks to the author, Susi Holliday, for providing a digital copy of this title - via Netgalley - following her recent literary newsletter requesting early readers. He described it as follows: “Nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted in this brilliant page-turner.

While the story had some great suspense and was a fast, action-packed read, there was no real satisfaction in anything that was happening. So quick sum up, giving nothing away: Nimble plot + people taking all manner of wrong turns = Life on a cliff edge. There are some "Oh WTH" meoments and the ending is CARRRAZY, never thought the story would go in that direction for a minute. We learn that Ginny is a seemingly vacuous and ditsy stay-at-home wife, who curates a Social Media following, yet demonstrates an astute barbed tongue. But the character also has to come to terms with living inside their head and their book too much and that they have to “live again”.

I seriously loved how twisted it was and once the twists start, they came thick and fast and I could feel my excitement growing with each page turned. When only two of the four hikers make it down from the mountain, the police press them for their story—but soon become suspicious when their accounts just don’t add up.There were other elements that I could identify with – such as the idea that others see being an author (and some would extend this also to being an academic) as being “cushy”.

She’s worked as a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 16 years, however it was on a six month round-the-world-trip that she took with her husband that she refound her passion for writing. This book makes absolutely no sense if you have any experience on hikes rated "difficult" or general experience on elevated hikes. The first small issue, and the only one of its kind in the whole book that I noticed, is that in one paragraph it says that Anna threw a piece of paper (that had been a message left on her door by a neighbor) on the floor. But I thought everyone living there were all witnesses for the SAME case, which actually would have been a better plot line, in my opinion.Too right Ian: Nothing is as it seems because this seems like it could be a good book when it is, in fact, not very good at all. The Hike finds us in the Swiss Alps, the story begins when two hikers, one male, one female appear at the door of a small local police station.
