The CA are correctable in most shots, but the lens seems to lack good coatings on the inner elements so there is some flare and glare. For (a) this lens sells for under 1000 EUR and (b) the performance at the center is still quite good at the longer end, and if you’re photographing wildlife or sports, it’s the center that really counts.Agree totally with Daniel, my copy of theSigma 150-500 wasOK to around 400mm, while the newer lenses are impressive all the way to 600, at least my Sigma 150-600 Sports is very good!

It allows the use of teleconverters (at least for L-mount) thereby increasing maximum focal length to 1200mm, is easy to use as push/pull zoom and is thoroughly sealed against the elements. The D800 results from the DX-corner should be a very good approximation for performance on a 16MP DX sensor (like the D7000), because the pixel-pitch of both sensors are the same. The Tamron 150-500 is 93 x 209mm + 55mm lens hood, the Sony 200-600 is 112 x 318mm and the Sigma 150-600 HSM Sports is 121 x 290mm (both without lens hood), the Tamron 150-600 is 108 x 260mm + 97mm lens hood. Open aperture performance of the Pentax at 300mm is impressive (and well ahead of the Sigma at the same setting), but both suffer loss of sharpness in the outer field. There was no question that the Nikon D7000 performed much better with the Sigma 150-500mm OS than it did with the Tamron 150-600mm VC.
