About this deal

Einhell is a brand that I know and love – I’ve used several of their power and garden tools before, including their electric scarifier, cordless leaf blower, and cordless chainsaw. Derek Smith has been farming all of his life, and is an professional landscape gardener with over 22 years experience.

This petrol-powered model provides the torque and runtime needed to see off some of the biggest jobs. For cutting smaller trunks and logs below 64 cm (25”) , choose a chainsaw with a bar around 36 cm (14”) . If you’re using a chainsaw professionally or for heavy-duty forestry clearances, a bar of around 50 cm (20”) is required .This is a mechanism that’ll catch and shorten the chain if it ever breaks or derails, which saves it from spinning back towards you. However, if you don’t mind spending a little more on a quality chainsaw that’s extremely well designed and made, then this Husqvarna won’t let you down. The length of the bar will determine the size of the log or branch which can be cut in any one movement.

Petrol chainsaw engines vary quite significantly, with this one sitting somewhere in the middle of the scale. When working with powerful petrol powered machines, it’s essential that you’re fit enough to operate them. A 50 cc motor is better suited to medium-intensity tasks as it will cut logs up to approximately 80 cm (32”). We also offer an electric chainsaws, that are lightweight and comfortable yet still able to cope with demanding jobs and a wide range of chainsaw chains and other accessories. It’s not a brand that I’ve personally heard of before, let alone used, so I was curious to see how their 62CC 20” Petrol Chainsaw would compare to some of its big-name competitors.Just like the other chainsaws that I reviewed, this one was also sprinkled with several safety stickers. The design of this chainsaw is well thought-out – from the Oregon bar and chain, which is a sign of top quality, to the size of the bar, which is 41 cm (16”) long but slightly narrower than the other chainsaws that I reviewed. I was impressed with its charging time – it only took about an hour, which is on par with the Makita batteries that I also tested. The only potential flaw that I could see was the old-fashioned metal on/off switch – all of the other chainsaws that I tested had an on/off button instead.

It sliced these up quickly and neatly, so I soon moved on to larger trunks to test out this chainsaw’s limits. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with the runtime – there’s only so much that you can do in 20 minutes! It definitely feels a lot more powerful and capable than most of the other cordless chainsaws I reviewed – unlike the others, this one could handle all of the jobs that I would usually use a petrol chainsaw for, with this one obviously being much lighter and easier to handle. Thanks to its size, as well as its narrower bar, I found this chainsaw to be much easier to manoeuvre than many of the others. Its handles also have grips, which I was happy to see, and the chain tensioner is located on the side of the machine, which makes it much easier to adjust the chain. All our chainsaw’s meet up to date GS safety certification standards and are ideal for tree surgeons, farmers and professional gardeners alike. However, even then, the motor didn’t cut out – a little manoeuvring on my part and the chainsaw was quickly back in action.
