Just because a book has the tropes of a marriage of convenience, one bed, and taking care of someone — does not mean you should be romanticizing and blatantly ignoring harmful behaviour. The author doesnt spend page time building the relationship between Cassie and Luke in a way that translates to the reader. Luke was clearly struggling and all I wanted Cassie to do was understand him, instead she kept on taunting him which hindered the build in their relationship. Even before all this shit went down, I wasn’t a shake-your-hand-and-ask-about-the-weather kind of guy.

I looked forward to his chapters as the author would switch from one character to the other throughout the story.
