About this deal

Having said that it does leave a fair bit of mess and the finish isn't brilliant but has improved my walls. The roller is made from a special foam that gives even coverage and the wiper has an easy glide flexible edge designed to leave no tram tracks. You're better sanding down the rough spots than spending too long with the tool because it sands really easily and gives a lovely finish.

Polycell Smoothover For Cracked / Damaged / Textured Walls

The toolset takes a while to get used to, but lukcily the product is easily sandable and therefore even if you make huge tramlines, then it will smoothen down with a bit of sanding. Because the walls were covered in little grains of sand I used a second layer but watered this second down a bit to make it flow easier.Even when mixed thoroughly it cannot possible adhere to the roller supplied - this being shiny plastic and the product being silica based (basic physics, it won't work). When the ace is fully dry, lightly sand down any l irregularities and tramlines for a perfectly smooth finish ready for painting. We will be happy to organise an exchange for the correct goods at no extra charge to yourself, please get in touch to organise this.

Polycell SmoothOver is a terrible product as far as I'm concerned and really wish I had looked at some reviews before I wasted my money on it. I am just in the middle of "smoothing" my kitchen walls which were previously textured with sandy emulsion. This product is probably OK to use on a small area, but in retrospect I would have gone down a different route as far as my hall is concerned and I strongly feel the advert is very misleading as to ease of use. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS MAKE SURE BEFORE USE YOU MIX WELL so that is it easier to stick to walls, MAKE SURE you roll the mix on first then use the scrapper to remove the excess back into the pot, last when dry sand lightly.Feeling very tired and dejected having had another recent session with the stuff and wondering if hiring a plasterer would have been more cost effective and less hassle. My wall was not bad, but I wanted to emulsion it so needed to get out minor indents and smooth minor rough areas. Once down to about a third of the tub left I decided to chance my arm with an idea and added a small amount of water to thin it somewhere between double and single cream consistency.

The only difficulty I had was where the surface plaster was loose, as the consistency of the smoothover would actually pull out the loose parts, which then left grooves when trying to smoothover again. Applied half a tub on a small section of wall, repeated several times attempting to get some coverage and consistency but gave up frustrated and annoyed with a wall rougher than it was before I started. Smooth off using the SmoothOver Wiper in an arc over the surface of the product, ensuring that all texture is fully covered. I persevered with the useless roller and ended up trying to trowel on the mixture, much of which ended up on the floor, just to get some on the walls. The walls in question were not particularly highly textured and I hoped this product would do what it claimed and smooth them out prior to painting. this product is a load of kak i stirred it till my arms fell off and it was so stiff it would not stick to the roller.
