About this deal

The first three Police Story films were voted among the best action films of all time in Time Out 's poll of film critics, directors, actors, and stunt actors, with Police Story ranked 4th, [2] Police Story 2 ranked 61st, [3] and Police Story 3: Supercop ranked 75th.

Sequel Goes Foreign: The previous Police Story films were both squarely rooted in Hong Kong, but Supercop takes the action to Mainland China, Thailand, and Malaysia. The Atmos track for the third is still limited by its source, but wow what an effort to put in for the release, allowing some of the more boisterous moments to expand out across the soundscape, from the Rambo-esque mayhem in Thailand (which includes a LOT of things being quite randomly blown up by rocket launchers) to the insane grand finale.I particularly enjoyed the older piece where he talks in detail about how he pulled off some of the set pieces, including how he managed to shoot 28 complicated action setups in only 4 hours and how he almost died doing one of the helicopter sequences. A critic from News18 India wrote "Cinematography is disappointing as a lot of shots seem to be out of focus. Andrew Hernandez on Wong Jing’s ‘Kung Fu Cult Master’ starring Jet Li and Sammo Hung arriving on Blu-ray from Eureka in January This was the last “classic” Jet Li movie I watched. The film's success led to three sequels, one spin-off ( Supercop 2), and two reboots ( New Police Story and Police Story 2013). Indeed, a good portion of the material is pure behind-the-scenes footage rather than outtakes, which makes it a valuable extra.

Perry on Wong Jing’s ‘Kung Fu Cult Master’ starring Jet Li and Sammo Hung arriving on Blu-ray from Eureka in January One of the most over-the-top of Wong Jing's martial comedies. Andrew Hernandez on Arriving in January is Eureka’s Blu-ray for ‘When Taekwondo Strikes’ starring Jhoon Rhee and Angela Mao It varies. Ken Lo tells of how he met Jackie and was brought into his ‘family’, working with the actor in numerous capacities on his films. And although she didn’t receive the same recognition and billing as Chan initially, Michelle Yeoh turned many heads as a force of nature as well, equal to Chan in every way. As recently as 2018, they did new 4K remasters of the first two movies, and it would be surprising if these weren't the same restorations used as the backbone for this release, excepting of course Police Story 3: Supercop, which has never before received an HD, let alone UHD, release in the UK, and which comes to 4K courtesy of a brand new native 4K restoration of the original film elements. The police operations are going swimmingly until Yang recognises one of the criminals as Cheng Feng, her boyfriend from China who left for HK to find his fortune, and the two become reacquainted under somewhat difficult circumstances. She’s not martial arts trained but uses her background in ballet to enable her to do graceful and complicated yet powerful movements.

Yang, posing as Ka-Kui sister, responds to a slap from her "brother" by slapping him back and quoting the Chairman. I’m not usually a fan of location featurettes but the one here is actually pretty good as Arne Venema takes us around the locations himself and clearly points out where specific shots were filmed, rather than merely showing the dry wides of before and after we normally get in these pieces. form_title":"TheaterByte","form_subtitle":"We are creating Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Movie, and Home Theater electronics reviews. What's even better news is the inclusion of additional Police Story 3: Supercop audio options, with not just the original mono but also a Cantonese ATMOS track too! DeSanto spends a little too much time bashing Police Story 2 for my liking, but I can see where he’s coming from in comparing it to Supercop. It feels custom designed to break Jackie Chan into superstardom in the West, which it succeeded in doing. There’s an explosive gunfight that John Woo would be proud of and then, shortly after, you get into the epic finale, which features several death-defying stunts involving a helicopter, motorbike and train. According to his autobiography, I Am Jackie Chan, Chan considers the film his best, in terms of action and stunts.

Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. I’m ashamed to admit that, despite being a self-professed fan of martial arts movies, I’ve never seen Police Story 3: Supercop. To some degree, the previous Police Story films were known outside of Asia, of course, but Supercop arguably helped bring Jackie Chan’s and other Hong Kong action films even further into the worldwide public consciousness. Played for laughs during the prison breakout, as Yang shoots Panther's comrade so Kevin can step in. I haven’t seen all of the US cut here, but reportedly it keeps the action but loses most of the mainland China/Hong Kong cultural comparison bits as well as any local humour that might go over the heads of western viewers. The duo left Panther's gang members scattered or arrested by the local cops, however, so they only escaped with Panther. However, the team confirmed that the movie is not a sequel of the previous films Police Story Part 1 and 2. So, whenever one of his films can retain a stable, good storyline, it's usually pretty entertaining.
