Dawn cheered on her small water Pokémon with great intent as Piplup did it's best to get near a stinky and really sour Pokémon treat. Once they got to Lysandre Labs, Serena battled some Team Flare grunts while Professor Sycamore and Mairin went to get Chespie. However, having lost faith in Ash because of their argument, Serena was still very upset and did not want go back to look for him. However, she got distracted by the crowd and her anxieties came to a head once again, causing her to lose her balance and fall off. Serena is shown to be a skilled baker as she enjoys baking for her friends and Pokémon frequently, but she also has skill in cooking.

However, Serena and her friends find out that Fennekin was in danger because the salon people turned out to be crooks that were stealing peoples Pokémon.

However, Serena gave Ash a kiss, which admitted her crush on him and thanked him for his efforts for her, before departing on her new journey to Hoenn.After Ash told her to calm down, Serena not only realized what she had said but also felt ashamed for letting her temper get the better of her as she tells her partners and friends that she needed some time alone to think over then left. Also, Serena sometimes would warn Ash about taking risks, or ask him to be very careful in an "I'm very worried about you" manner showing how much she cares. Serena and Nini are not only rivals because they are Pokémon Performers, but they are also good friends.
