About this deal

There are footsteps to spot, times when we have to whisper and opportunities to play find the object or count crocodiles under the Long-John bridge (a cracking double joke covering both pirates and underpants in one fell swoop). Ben Cort's illustrations are fun and colourful, perfectly capturing Claire Freedman's words and help children engage with the story. Each episode sets up some sort of catastrophe that Joe firmly believes is the end of the world for him, which of course is nothing of the sort.

Prepare for a remarkable journey as we get knee deep in the amazingly hideous world of Bad Nature (25 x 5 minutes), produced by Bristol-based Rebel Television. Questions such as, which animal’s poo can be seen from space, what creature squirts blood out of its eyes to ward off potential predators and what animal turns into a block of ice to combat the cold? Produced by Helen Stern, created and directed by Jack Bennett, written by Ben Ward and executive produced Sarah Mattingley. Ugh, clever but I won't use this one in story time because it glorifies the pirates stealing from other pirates and it's just weird that everyone wears their underpants on the outside of their clothes.Don't get me wrong there are opportunities for kids to learn, as there are with the majority of children's books. This means that you’ll start with the very first event and then describe what happened next, and so on. My daughter really enjoyed 'Alien love Underpants', so when we saw this follow-up from Claire Freedman at the library, we grabbed it. A nice fun and irreverent read, however lacking the class and not in the same league as the works of such as Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

These free preschool printables are great any time of year, but they’re especially fun in the days leading up to Talk Like a Pirate Day or used within your ocean-themed lesson plans. They find that another group of pirates found it first and decided to cut the elastic in their underwear and steal it. Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. In this two-page sequencing pack, you’ll find an activity that will help your students sequence the story after reading through it. Can you compose a new song for the pirates to sing while they are celebrating their capture of more treasure? With this book, we have now read the whole underpants series - Miss 4 would have been quite happy for there to be more!
