Stupidest thing is the cardboard sleeve the vinyl came in, completely scuffed the record, even if it DNAP it bring the grade of the vinyl down to VG+ at best, right out of the jacket, brand new. This reissue is fine if you just want to listen to Pearl Jam and not pick apart the small inaccuracies of an average vinyl pressing. These recent Ten reissues are sub-par, I’ve purchased 3 copies since 2017 and all of them were brutal.

A few of these new versions appeared on 2004's best-of Rearviewmirror, and O'Brien, who has worked with Pearl Jam on most of their subsequent albums, brings Vedder's ad libs to the forefront, sharpens some of the guitar riffs, and generally cleans up the murkiness. Overall I'm still happy to have this, plays well enough and looks really beautiful, matching the artwork perfectly. It felt like “Once” sounded a little weird at the beginning and had a little bit of surface noise, but it was mostly clean. Wasn’t even planning on listening to the remix and was about to send the whole thing back because the remaster is meekly cut to noisy vinyl. While generally a clean pressing, the mix is very flat, uninspiring, and if not for the songs it contained, would itself be completely forgettable.It was such a tease having a bright shiny copy in my hands but then realizing it was warped and causing songs to skip! On songs like "Once", with its insistent breakdowns, and "Black", with strangely dramatic vocalizations, there's a hardscrabble dynamic that the band would be unable to capture on subsequent releases. I have to say the 2020 reissue is still an excellent pressing and worthy of any collection but I'm enjoying this pressing so much more.
