About this deal

This is a 5 cd edition with 100 songs, some you may have forgotten but I would imagine you may know most of them. Each record has a sleeve with a front cover featuring different a kitsch design element of the era and has annotated track listings on the rear with bullet-pointed facts/info about each song. R Dean Taylor There's A Ghost In My House is a rerecording not the original Motown version that was re-released in 1974 and the version of Streets Of London is one of the early versions not the 1974 Reprise recording that was a top 40 hit. Five records later, The Buggles‘‘Video Killed The Radio Star’ has a similar role, anticipating the 1980s. In between, this NOW presents the 70s box set unashamedly opts for the biggest acts and the biggest hits although there’s a few omissions, the most notable being the hard-to-license David Bowie).

Now 100 Hits 70s (2020, Digisleeve, CD) - Discogs

Disc one tracks include the original 12-inch version of ‘Are You Ready For Love’ by Elton John, the rare long version of Wings’ non-album single ‘Goodnight Tonight’ (both 1979) and the seven-minute cut of Cliff Richard’s‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ and the 12″ mix of ‘Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick’, and the full length version of The B-52s’ classic ‘Rock Lobster’. Starting with 1970, each side of vinyl represents one year of the 1970s with Simon and Garfunkel’s‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ kicking things off perfectly as it draws a close on the optimism of the 1960s and ushers in the new decade.
