About this deal

Here are 2 bonus size comparison pictures with other Nitecore flashlights and when attached to a car key fob. This means that, despite the fact that it was made from 'one piece', it cannot be submerged in water for a longer period of time. Still, you wouldn’t want that TURBO mode to activate accidentally while the TINI 2 is in your bag or pocket since even a 30-second activation costs a lot of battery life. With a max output of 500 lumens, the TINI2 SS Stainless Steel Version is a Dual-Core Intelligent Keychain Light equipped with a multifunctional OLED real-time display.

The latest generation in the TINI series is the TINI 2, which retains popular features such as the as the dual switch design, daily mode and demo mode, advanced power cut-off technology for an ultra-low standby power consumption and a built-in 280 mAh battery. TINI2 has 5 brightness levels available and uses 2 OSRAM P8 LEDs for a maximum output of 500 lumens for 2000cd. When charging is in use, the blue key indicator may flash slowly to notify you and the display will show the current battery level. The screen will show an unlock icon and progress bar, until the light is activated to exit Lockout mode. It would be nice if the 500 lumens mode version was an actual TURBO mode, rather than a MOMENTARY TURBO mode. The TINI2 is tiny for the output it is capable of delivering (500 lumens of MOMENTARY TURBO mode) and is a great size for keychain EDC, with the included keychain clasp.

Even though Nitecore added functionality like a display, they managed to keep the lines clean and kept with a much more tactical aesthetic. Nitecore did not disclose the tint (color temperature) and/or the CRI (Color Rendering Index) for the LED used in their light. We’re always happy to see when brands source quality components from reputable manufacturers, whether it’s zippers, fabrics—or in this case—LEDs because of the peace of mind it gives. As you hold the power button, you’ll see the padlock with a 1 on it, and then it changes to a 2 a few seconds later.

We found the TINI2 has a longer battery life between charges than the original TINI in day to day use, even though the manual indicates it is the same or lower than the original TINI. Note: By being in DEMO mode and reactivating the flashlight within 3 seconds after turning it off, you will have temporary access to DAILY mode until you turn off the flashlight again. With that in mind, TLR tend to view mode spacing as battery life indicators (amount of runtime left) rather than the specific output (lumens). The OLED screen is also a great option: I am not bothered by it and it gives me some important information.

Upgrading from an impressive 380 lumens on the TINI SS, to an even more impressive 500 lumens on the TINI 2.

It is accessed the same way as lockout 1, however you continue to hold the button longer until the screen shows the padlock icon with a 2. Although it is unlikely for you to have to do this, but the flashlight can be used while charging for the worst case scenario. You can attach the ring of the keychain to the TINI2 to make sure you also have enough grip if you have larger hands.

We’ll leave it to you to decide which you prefer, but either way, they’re both easy-to-carry accessories that can hang off a sling or backpack’s loop. The LED screen is great and the various modes go all the way from nightlight mode to a pretty respectable 500 lumen bright light.Using the NITECORE TINI 2’s many functions can be a bit fiddly because of its small size, but it’s TURBO-bright where it counts. I say this because, in our current day and age of smartphones, flashlights are slowly becoming an enthusiast's play thing. Coming back to it later though, it wasn’t too difficult to remove and put back on, so either I’ve gotten used to it, or my fingernails are sufficiently long enough to be able to separate it better. There is no knurling on the light but the recessed groove for the dual switches and keychain clasp attachment helps to provide some “grip”, even with wet hands/gloves.
