But – of course, there’s no contradiction here – it’s also loaded with sizzling, fist-pumpingly cathartic songs. We got in and out of the building for the event very quickly and the event itself was run very well. Steel Still Rusts’ continues the acoustic vibe on a slower-paced grooving ballad that really represents the classic Nickelback sound very well, containing a ton of vocal hooks and just enough big guitar sounds to elevate it out of the Soft-Rock mire.

Unusually, and revealingly, there was no gnashing of Nickelback teeth when lockdown halted everyone. Of all the bands in the post-Grunge Rock scene, they seem to have been the one that garners the most polarised of opinions and I’ve never really understood why, as they have released some absolutely cracking stuff over the years. And on a musical level, no curve balls means few chances are taken; perhaps over the course of 10 albums a band who claim to be the eleventh best-selling act of all time might have developed their sound more. Hoping Josh Ross and Brantley Gilbert tour again SOON… first time ever seeing either of them and now I’m hooked! Named the “most successful rock band of the decade” by Billboard in 2009, Nickelback is one of the most commercially viable and important acts of the past two decades. The four-piece, comprised of Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and Daniel Adair, is globally celebrated for their career defining and award-winning hits including “How You Remind Me,” “Photograph,” “Far Away” and “Rockstar” which all held top spots on the Billboard 100. We don’t have one record that really sort of sounds the same in terms of songwriting from top to bottom. They have been accused of being overly formulaic and of having dubious lyrical content, but frankly those are criticisms that could be levelled at a whole bunch of bands in and out of the various Rock genres into which the band have been lumped by the media and Rock fans in general.As for me, I really like this album and happily recommend it to all fans of modern Hard Rock with Pop sensibilities. Delicate keyboard hooks add weight to the insane catchiness of this track which is another personal favourite from the album.
