About this deal

No need to take the time to print on sticky notes, everything you need is right in these little paper slips of goodness. The premise is awesome and I checked it out for the second time, after many years in between, because our 4-year-old guy is a *terrible* interrupter.

After we read this book we talked about how it made the characters in the book feel when the little boy interrupted everyone and they all understood that it made people upset when he would do it.On another note, though the illustrations weren't my favorite style, they did a wonderful job at giving context and making the story fun for the readers. Also included in this resource are the makings for a controlling our volcano anchor chart for the whole class. It gives a great visual for children because it talks about how the boy has a volcano in his body that “erupts” and he “explodes” which is when he is interrupting others. Many of these activities are available for purchase on Teachers Pay Teachers, making it easy and convenient for teachers to bring the message of “My Mouth Is A Volcano” into their classrooms.

With a variety of engaging and interactive activities to choose from, teachers can find the perfect resources to help their students learn about the value of respectful communication. His thoughts are extremely important to him that when he has something to say, his words begin to wiggle, and then they do the jiggle, then his tongue pushes all of his important words up against his teeth and he erupts by interrupting others! It can be hard to teach students to wait their turn to speak and listen when someone else is talking. What I liked most about this story is the fact that it not only focuses on the impact that Louise has with his words, but also that it recognizes Louise's feelings and troubles. The illustrations are interesting and colorful, and they hold the attention of the reader without detracting from the words.

There are also some mini-charts that will help you brainstorm what your students know about volcanoes, ways to control blurting out and the feelings we get when we get interrupted. Cook has the innate ability to enter the worldview of a child through storybooks, giving children both the “what to say” and the “how to say it”. The best part is, we’ve included so many different lessons and topics that you can pick and choose what best meets the needs of your students. In fact, his thoughts are so important to him that when he has something to say, he erupts, or interrupts others. Then his tongue pushes all of his important words up against his teeth and he erupts, or interrupts others. The book really is written for use within the school setting but would also be a great bridging resource between school and home. This book is well written and the author really uses already identified concepts of social awareness issues to bring alive with her words and pictures. Even though he doesn t have much success, RJ keeps arguing until his teacher suggests that he try to join her classroom s Say YES to NO Club. This chart can go along with the book "My Mouth is a Volcano" Each time a student blurts out they remove a volcano.
