We can’t really complain about the model being entirely black – after all, it’s an authentic replica of a Dark Trooper – but it does mean it’s a little hard to make out the helmet’s definition until you’re up close. I'm glad people like them and that LEGO makes them, but they're just not for me (which is fine, LEGO does not have to catter to all my needs and wants!Vader's 'neck' is actually a part of the helmet, the bottom of the mouth piece flares out and rests atop the shoulder armor, which isn't in the set. The stepped sloping displayed below appears rather awkward, but I am uncertain how that could have been avoided without new parts. But a few annoyances with the building process stop Lego Star Wars Dark Trooper Helmet being one of the best Lego Star Wars helmets around.

While the Dark Trooper has proved to be a desirable minifigure, you will have to look elsewhere ( 75324 Dark Trooper Attack is a good place to start) if you want to add one to your own collection, as no characters are included within this set, or indeed any of the LEGO Star Wars helmets.

The black plinth is neat and robust, and a printed plaque providing details of the model finishes it off nicely.
