About this deal

The Sundara is quite linear up to 1000Hz, after which there is a very broad, relatively subtle recession spanning until about 3kHz-ish. I found the cable to be superb in usage as it was light and flexible without introducing any added microphonics.

If you’re hoping the HiFiMan Sundara will block out your surroundings, open-back headphones don’t really do that.

While this can sometimes be unpleasant, it can also check that “sparkly” box that some audiophiles love so much – and it’ll do it without falsely inserting a giant middle-finger peak in the middle of your precious treble response. Most people looking for a more accessible way into high-end headphones will enjoy the Sundara—we didn’t have to think long about giving it our Editors Choice award. With that out of the way and without wasting any more time in the foreplay of fondling with the build quality, comfort et Cetera.

May be it's my head's shape or some other effect, changing to dekoni pads changed how sundara sound with noticeable increase in bass and reduction in brightness. Hifiman has stuck with the Focus A pads so they offer the same levels of comfort and fit as the HE560. Hifiman is pitching two key areas that I think will resonate with Hifiman fans; build and sound quality. All the wireless headphones did their job, they were very good quality, nice looking, versatile, noise cancelling (closed-back headphones), and even some equalized with a phone application. Wired Headphones with a Balanced sound signature presents a precise sound and an enriching listening experience, where sounds are naturally presented without extreme emphasis on any region. And of course, the mids of the HD600 have a smoother sound, slightly more natural tone compared to the aggressiveness of the Sundara. One thing I noticed was that the Sundara struggled to fully give the spotlight to the guitars and instead had many of the other instruments encroaching in with similar loudness and impact. The plan was to begin reading about the subtleties of its sound: soundstage, imaging, noise isolation, accuracy, comfort, and go from there. We also like the replaceable cable, as it extends the lifespan of the headphones past that of hardwired alternatives. I discussed further with Salim from hpz, and he asked me what kind of music i listen, I told him almost everything and he suggested Sundara and Audeze LCD 2.

HIFIMAN Sundara Review — Headfonics

It has been 3 years since Hifiman last focused on its entry-level or mid-fi range of planar headphones. The Sundara is bright, certainly unnaturally so, but at least it does brightness relatively gracefully. To be fair and sincere, most will see the lack of balanced connectivity as a negative but most single-ended equipped gear can power up the Sundara Closed Back so there might not even be a need for balanced connectivity here. Unfortunately, the Sundara also exhibits a bit of a speed problem right around the 11kHz zone – a problem that’s corroborated by solderdude’s measurements, which indicate resonances around 5. Although more expensive to make, planar magnetic headphones offer a number of advantages over conventional dynamic ones. Its attractive appearance grabs attention with the matte black finish and eye-catching earcup grills. After about half hour of listening he said there was no sub-bass and the there was something missing in the sound.
