The family business was sold in 1976, much to the dissatisfaction of Don Javier’s grandson, Guillermo. Del Maguey is the brainchild of Californian artist turned mezcal maestro Ron Cooper, who has been importing this agave spirit since 1995.

This Reposado is rested in steel tanks for six months before being aged in American oak barrels for 11 months. This earthy, citrus-laced tequila comes in a hand-finished calavera (skull-shaped bottle) in tribute to the traditions of Mexico's Day of the Dead.Tequila is an agave-based spirit that can only be produced in certain parts of Mexico (just like champagne has to come from a particular region of France). Aromas of citrus, caramel, butter, cooked agave, and sage are the beginning of a pleasingly balanced and very unique tasting experience. Aged in American oak, it’s a complicated tequila with an earthy, cinnamon, caramel, citrus taste including notes of olive and butter.
