About this deal

Whilst, the speed sign recognition alerts you to important speed signs, encouraging safer and smarter driving with every journey. It is based on a modified version of Groupe PSA's PF1 platform, which is used by the Citroën C3 Picasso and the Peugeot 2008, [5] shared with the Citroën C3 Aircross.

The Crossland X can cope with being hustled through a series of bends, but it’s not a car that surprises you with an unexpected sporting edge or even a modicum of driver reward. Being more spacious and better equipped than the class average gets the Crossland X part of the way towards success, but the mechanical substance, apparent quality and dynamic finish of this car aren’t equal to what we’ve seen from the Vauxhall Astra and Insignia. IntelliLink colour touchscreen with DAB radio, Apple and Android smartphone mirroring and voice control as standard. Some of our partners may process your data as a part of their legitimate business interest without asking for consent.

The Crossland achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating when it was tested in 2017, but it’s worth bearing in mind the tests are much more stringent these days. The car rolls fairly hard through a tight corner, although its rate of roll is controlled and its lean angle isn’t allowed to undermine its balance of grip or its handling stability too much.

Lane departure warning and speed sign recognition also comes as standard, but autonomous emergency braking – which will intervene to brake in the event of an impending collision – is only available as part of an (albeit affordable) optional safety pack. Just as it is in the front, the Crossland isn’t particularly wide, so you'd be better off with the broader T-Roc. The Crossland X has largely predictable styling, even though under the skin, it’s a pure front-wheel drive hatchback, with moderately raised ground clearance. At the same time, the Opel Meriva was discontinued, as demand for crossovers and SUVs in the B-segment is continually growing at the expense of compact MPVs. High quality finishes are provided with chrome accents around the cluster and air vents, while the centrepiece of the interior is the touchscreen.

Sales in the United States were expected to begin in 2005, with targets of 6,000 units per year but the launch has been cancelled. Other models you should consider in this segment include the Renault Captur and Toyota Yaris Cross, while a new Hyundai Kona is landing soon. But the throttle response is sufficiently soft at low and middling revs as to make the car feel like it’s surging off in a quite unpredictable fashion at times – at least until you get used to waiting for a second or so after any given pedal application before the engine’s response is fully delivered. The Crossland X is available with specially designed AGR-certified seats up front (which means they’ve been built with the German Campaign for Healthier Backs, prove comfortable enough, if not quite up there with Volkswagen’s Ergocomfort seats), and optional adjustable rears can be slid backwards and forwards to prioritise luggage space over legroom. Only if you can get a hefty discount, because most small SUVs offer more in terms of comfort, interior quality, safety kit and handling.

Leather seat facings are stylish and comfortable, the steering wheel is heated to stave off the chill of cold days and it adds forward collision alerts and drowsiness warnings to keep you safe on the road. The navigation system’s mapping is better than that found in plenty of Peugeots and Citroëns and destinations are particularly easy to set. So, while Ultimate trim adds an ergonomic driver’s seat, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, as well as the Versatility Pack, we think you're better off with one of the rival small SUVs. If you would like to change your settings or withdraw consent at any time, the link to do so is in our privacy policy accessible from our home page. Both costslightly more than a Kia Stonic or Nissan Juke, but less than an entry-level Ford Puma and VW T-Roc.Fuel consumption information is official government environmental data, tested in accordance with the relevant EU directive. The car was officially shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017, and was originally known as the Opel and Vauxhall Crossland X. The rear pillars are quite wide compared with those on the Skoda Kamiq, which is one of the easiest small SUVs to see out of in any direction.
