Cricket 22 boasts the official licence for the Ashes, along with a welter of other official licences that make great sense in the context of a cricket game, including the 50-over and T20 World Championships, the newly inaugurated Hundred and Australia's answer to the IPL, the Big Bash League. The game is being released in time for the upcoming Ashes — a biennial test series played between Australia and England — taking place in Australia this year.

Big Ant Studios and Nacon are thrilled to announce that the long-awaited Cricket 22: The Official Game of The Ashes will arrive this November. Subject to regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority and limited regulation by the Prudential Regulation Authority. At the time of writing, the early access game — a demo version, of sorts — is available and comes with a note that says that it is not yet complete.Since Cricket 22 has been made keeping the next-gen consoles in mind, it is safe to assume that it will come with better graphics on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X compared to other platforms.

However, the game gave us some sort of saving grace as it appeared to freeze, leaving us no choice but to quit and try again. Cricket 22’s career mode is definitely the most fun if you decide to be an all-rounder rather than a batting or bowling specialist – although there’s plenty to do off the field, in the form of net sessions and gym work, which involves playing some basic but diverting mini-games. In other words, Cricket 22 displays as much flexibility as you could possibly desire from a cricket game, and its control system – responsive, supportive of all the subtleties of cricket and as intuitive as you could hope for given the sport's innate complexity – is exemplary.Although those gameplay mechanics will be largely familiar to anyone who has previously played a Big Ant Studios cricket game, they have received a number of judicious tweaks and additions that end up providing the best approximation yet of what playing cricket is actually like, given that you have a gamepad, as opposed to a bat or ball, in your hands. Cricket 22 also features a bevy of new innovations, including: • All-new bowling and fielding controls; whether it’s a feisty fast bouncer, or the satisfying “snap” as you hurl the ball from the infield for a precision run-out, Cricket 22 features refined, tight controls that enable you to play your best game of cricket. Happily for cricket fans, Big Ant's 2021 effort, Cricket 22, is now available – just in time for the start of the sport's most epic Test competition, the Ashes. This cricket sim is not a pretty or polished game, but it does at least get the basics right - and to a greater extent than any of its predecessors which, it seems, is as much as cricket fans can ask for these days. A soft green pitch is a minefield to bat on, the ball will keep extremely low and is conductive to both seam and spin.
