The concept of an inclusively-marketed doll is by no means new, but this move by Mattel should not be underestimated. The dolls are more childlike in appearance (similar to Lottie dolls which are based on the proportions of a nine year-old child) and come with a range of clothes and hair options. These dolls reinforce the idea that gender is “playful” and easy to switch around, accusations often leveled at trans youths. I would have sworn that I'd donated my Creatable World sets to the Goodwill when we moved last year.
I often found myself having some difficulty getting Riley's arms to bend the right way, and I'm not exactly sure why. They made different types of packs, fashion packs that contain a mixture of clothes, shoes and hats. I recently made a top for one of my dolls, and it was much easier than creating something for an Ever After High doll.
