About this deal

A big thank you to Edelweiss, House of Anansi Press and Katherena Vermette for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review! From short weekend breaks to fun-filled seven night stays, action-packed adventures to relaxing luxury getaways, there’s something for every family and every generation. But like any long-married couple, they can also be presented as a study in opposites: Stella’s faith versus Gerry’s rationalism; her scrupulous meanness versus his unbridled appetite for booze. While I understand that often abuse breeds abuse (so we have someone who was abused becoming an abuser) I am tired of how often this is ‘used’ in fiction as a way of not quite condoning but of making ‘sense’ of an abusive character’s actions. The author navigates you through the gamut of realistic emotions that normally plague survivors of an apocalyptic zombie wasteland.

Break by Hannah Moskowitz | Goodreads

Several times Gerry sees Stella from afar, lost in her thoughts or wrapped in prayer, and wonders how much he knows her at all. There was something gimmicky about his chapters and it seemed to me that the author couldn't’ choose between making him into a flawed yet ultimately empathetic guy or an unscrupulous ambitious dick.Stella (third generation), alone at home with her infant children witnesses a gang rape going on outside her window and is helpless to break it up or render assistance to the victim. Katherena Vermette doesn’t soften the brutality of what the victim experiences nor are she quick to condemn characters like Stella. There is a family tree illustration provided, but even with that, I still struggled to keep the women and generations of families separate which really took away from my reading experience. Most of the narrative voices are of the women—dead and alive—in this family, from Kookom Flora to great-granddaughter Emily. Much appreciation to narrator James Fouhey for his consistency in giving separate and easily distinguishable voices to all (male and female) characters throughout and making 'Deadbreak' much more exciting than reading alone could.

Plus, you can wake up to gorgeous lakeside views with one of our new luxury lodges at White Acres Holiday Park.

This could have become convoluted, but the opposite happened for me - as I discovered the familial connections I began to feel personally intertwined in their lives, almost a part of the family. Entertaining, funny and ridiculously badass, this is a total recommend for all the zombie lovers out there. My one regret is that I didn’t adopt this attitude when I was twenty-seven, but I knew nothing when I was twenty-seven.

From Indian to Italian and pancakes to pub classics, all of our restaurants have special menus for little ones, and many of them feature soft play or outdoor play areas to keep them entertained during your visit.Nothing really compares to hearing the signature tunes of celebrated musicians, seeing top-flight dancers, and laughing to comedians in an intimate setting. The author is definitely obsessed with guns and for me that was a dreadfully boring part of the book. This double-sided book is structured so that whether you’re the heartbreaker or the heartbroken, you’ll find something within the book to heal the wounds left behind.

A poetry book inspired by modern dating and heartbreak, poems within explore mental health, our relationship with our bodies, being our true selves, and lost love. Our long term commitment to offering hotel disability access is a journey that continues so there are a few venues where improvements still need to be made. One of the officers, Tommy Scott, like both the victim and the witness to the crime, is Metis (a person of mixed aboriginal and European ancestry).
