About this deal

While this set has its problems and doesn't really impress with its bonus materials (the majority of which are just ported over from the earlier DVD release), the fact that Universal took the time to remaster 'Battlestar Galactica' at all is surprising, and this set gives viewers a fresh widescreen look to a beloved classic series (and its not-so-beloved 'sequel' series). com is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Pay4Later Limited, trading as Deko, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 728646). But the real reason the show holds up as well as it does is the chemistry between the actors – particularly the two primary characters: Captain Apollo (Richard Hatch) and Lt.

Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series Blu-ray review

Podcast Commentary: 'A Disquiet Follows My Soul: Extended Version' (Disc 1) – Podcast commentary with Ronald D.In an effort to bring the series back for a second season but cut down on the budget, the decision was made to allow Galactica to discover Earth, which would mean far fewer episodes requiring extensive special effects. The keepcase for the 'Galactica 1980' series is similar to the design for the original series, with the exception that the keepcase houses just two 50GB Blu-rays. The final result is what Time Magazine and countless others (myself included) hail as one of the best dramas on television. The composer of the music for the series talks about the creation of the music, including how he got the Los Angeles Philharmonic to record the score.

Audio Commentary: 'Islanded in a Stream of Stars: Extended Version' (Disc 2) – Commentary with star/director Edward James Olmos. To twist that further, some of the Cylons onboard the Galactica aren’t even aware they’re not human, fifth-columnists who don’t even know they’re working for the other side. The collection spans twenty Blu-ray discs (BD-50s), which are all packed to the gunnels with all things Galactica including all the episodes in high definition. The Look of Battlestar Galactica (SD, 8 minutes) – An all too brief glimpse into the production of the series hosted by Moore. The series is often grainy and colors are heavily unsaturated in places, but this gritty washed-out look is the intended style of the filmmakers. These new widescreen remasters have been getting a lot of heat from reviewers and fanboys alike since this set has been released. As an owner of the DVDs, one difference with the standard-definition releases is that the picture is so murky at times it really tends to hinder visibility into the backgrounds. Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance (SD, Disc 2, 27 minutes) – A collection of ten bonus 'Galactica' webisodes featuring an alternate storyline that takes place during the third season.

Another reason I believe the original series has aged well is due to the fact that most of the main characters are very open about their religious beliefs, something that probably wouldn't fly on network television today, even though the religion on Battlestar Galactica is more Egyptian in nature than it is Christian.Oh I know there is tell of a couple of other documentaries that have been available on SD DVD releases, but I'm not going to lament on those, simply because what is on offer is quite superlative. I'm sure DNR haters will probably be tickled pink with this, but for me there are points when it becomes a distraction. The flip-side of the slick for the original series – seen from inside the keepcase – contains a list of episodes (with a short synopsis) and bonus features for each of the six discs. The show garnered numerous awards, including two Emmys(R) and the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and was recognized by the American Film Institute (AFI) as one of the most outstanding television programs of the year for two years running. Audio Commentary– Ported over from the 2003 DVD release of the series, this commentary track for the three-part pilot (which runs roughly 2 hrs.

Deleted Scenes (SD, Disc 1, 12 minutes) – Deleted scenes from episodes 'He That Believeth in Me,' 'Six of One,' 'That Ties That Bind,' 'Escape Velocity,' 'The Road Less Traveled. If you thought you’d seen a complete series box set then think again, because this one is on a completely different level to any I’ve experience. It holds a single 50GB disc, and both the Blu-ray and the keepcase's slick are exactly the same as the stand-alone version already in release. Visual Effects (SD, 9 minutes) – Covers the various ships, jump effects, and usage of green screen technology bringing the intense world of 'Battlestar Galactica' to life.
