Unlike so many of the best gaming chairs, its design (in the standard black, anyway) isn't loud or obnoxiously angular; instead, it's rather more grown up. If you're a gamer who wants maximum support and a chair that will last a lifetime, the Dark Demon is a great option. We’ve kind of already covered this, but if you want to play from a relaxed, sitting back position, you are better off with a gaming chair that has better seat pan tilt control.

Anyone daring to play a tense, white-knuckle game like Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania or Crash Bandicoot 4 while sitting in this thing is going to get a little slick. The Enki also comes with a memory foam neck pillow, although as its location is fixed it may not necessarily be optimally positioned for all users.

If you don't mind having to vacuum your chair and would prefer the less heat-generative build of the linen T-Compact, it's a worthwhile seat to consider, even with its potentially jankier recline feature. But the all-black version, which I tested, is an altogether more sombre offering, relieved only by a stitched white logo in the centre of the backrest and white lettering behind your head. Definitely designed for bigger people, it’s perfect for providing firm support, lots of room to get comfortable and a 160-degree recline. Of course, they’re completely removable too if that’s not your thing, and the chair still remains quite comfortable, especially across the back support. A thick leatherette cover doesn’t let you fully appreciate the malleability of memory foam but its ergonomics are just about perfect for the under 6-foot crowd.

The Dark Demon's rugged nature and firm support make it less forgiving than its competitors, and there are chairs out there that offer softer, more premium comfort.
