About this deal

Cost wise the difference is negligible - was planning getting the pipe in the morning and running it through tomorrow whilst the replacement window is being fitted. will take water from that pipe, so if you have a large cold supply pipe, then the dynamic pressure drop at the combi input will be minimised when you're drawing off cold water to other things (e.

If noise issue materialise, then presumably I can do something to reduce the flow to the supply anyway? Our rising main and stopcock in our old house is 15mm, and we have mains pressure hot and cold systems fed from it. Copyright PlumbNation 2023 PlumbNation, Millennium Court, Enterprise Way, Evesham, Worcestershire, United Kingdom, WR11 1GS.They do get a little sneaky - especially one of the utility contractors - and fir 32-25 reducers, then a 25mm water meter, then back up to 32 to the house. The Philmac Stopcock 32mm Black Metric/Imperial is a compression fitting made from acetal and polypropylene. These two books are the perfect starting place to help you get to grips with one of the most vitally important aspects of our society - our homes and living environment. Also, if you go to 22mm copper, just use a quarter turn full bore lever valve as an isolator - quick and simple and very rarely do they go stiff.

FloPlast's WRAS approved MDPE Systems are suitable for use below ground on cold water services with polyethylene pipes manufactured in accordance with the requirements of BS EN 12201 - 2 (BLUE). I dont know if you can substitute a check valve, and a full bore, for a stop tap - we've never done it, and i've never seen this arrangement on site. So - given that I have a 32mm incoming anyway (and very good pressure), should I run 32mm or go down to 28mm?I think I may be being a bit thick, but our incoming supply is 32mm, which I'm going to run right up to the plant room and tee off to the UVC and to the cold water manifold and fit a reducer to each. Also is there any reason not to then use a check valve and peglar full bore lever valve in place of the brass stop cock? You aren't really supposed to expose MDPE to direct sunlight, so you'd normally go from MDPE to copper on entering the house.

I think we'll then change to copper (not sure what size yet, probably determined by what kind of meter and softener we can get), then a drain off valve, then the meter.Water meters are usually more expensive than 15mm, but you will get the associated flow reduction going to 15mm instead of 22mm. I've kind of got a bee in my bonnet now (thanks to you guys :p) about doing what I can to reduce pressure/flow variations when multiple outlets are open - it's one real bugbear in my current wee flat - the minute one thing comes on (like the washing machine), the hot water taps or shower immediately drop in pressure. Most combis have 15mm pipework for DHW, because at the flow rates they support (they have a flow rate limited built-in usually something like 8 to 13 litres per minute - depending on size), the pipe losses for 15mm copper are usually negligible (and as has already been said, smaller pipes between the hot water source and the points of demand gives less wasted hot water). I think, Shevek, that it would be more useful for all if your threads were more generic and that in future I will be quicker to start another, more specific, thread, if the generic one has drifted or lost interest.
