About this deal

The person has caused you to change in some manner. Maybe your views have expanded or you’ve dealt with a wound or trauma that needed to be dealt with as a result of your relationship with this person. Thank you so much to the publisher, St. Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio, for providing me with copies to read and review. Sally Hepworth is one of my favorite authors. Many of her novels are on my favorite reads list. I will read and/or listen to anything she writes. Once I start her books, I find it difficult to put down until I'm finished.

Soulmates by Holly Bourne | Waterstones

In The Soulmate, Sally Hepworth explores the (mis)perceptions of a perfect marriage. What those see on the outside isn't so perfect behind closed doors. i’ve got SO much to say, but i’m honestly not going to bother writing a whole ass essay about everything and everyone that bothered me in this book. even though i want to, it’s just not going to be all that nice. 👩🏻‍🤝‍👨🏼 If I could have read this in one sitting I would have done so but I needed to sleep and life can't stop just because I don't want to put a book down. The mostly short chapters each had me wanting to keep on going to the next one. It was a bit of a brain twister as I tried to put the characters at the right place in time during the chapters taking place in the past but this is one book where I kind of enjoyed the challenge. The various times in the past mixed with the present day added to the mystery in a way that I didn't find frustrating. Dun dun dun! Okay, that premise sounds awesome. I can't help but be drawn in, and it turned out to be a riveting read. This easily could've been one of those books I read in one sitting if I had the time. The word "literally" got me! I typed it in my note so I can remember to looked it up on Goodreads. Then one of my bookstagram friend has read the book and she told me that it was a great read, so I started it earlier than I intended to. And when I read the first sentence? I fell in love immediately with the book. I'm smitten, swooned, and soppy. What I have proven after my second book by Ms. Holly Bourne is that she is a subversive writer and I mean that in a constructive way. She defies norms and popular culture through her stories and isn’t scared to express her principles through her characters’ thoughts and it’s why I like her. Just take a look at her take on clichés.

I love every bit and pieces of it. The beginning. The middle. The ending. The words. The sentences. The paragraphs. The chapters. The book. I love it. I love Soulmates so much. I highly recommend it and of course, it's added on my all-time-favorites list! You know that idea that many people have about soulmates being the most intense type of romantic relationship? That’s actually a better description for a twin flame relationship. What is a twin flame relationship? Well, Pippa and Gabe are about to do just that! And oh yes…desperate people do still come to the cliff with the intension of ending it all. But interestingly since they’ve moved in, no one has actually followed through with their suicidal intent. You see, Gabe has a unique gift of talking the jumpers off the cliff side.

LoveReading4Kids Says

Hallelujah … the men weren’t perfect by any means, but they also weren’t written as complete cretins for once! Gabe and Max - Amanda’s husband - both had their issues, but there was at least some depth to them and a rationale behind their behavior. One of my issues with this book is that I felt like the perspectives didn’t match up. For example, Hannah would act a certain way when we’re reading from her perspective. Then when we’re reading about her from Jacob’s perspective, she acts differently. I don’t know if it’s a me thing or what but I just felt like the characters had personalities that were completely dependent on who POV I was seeing. Unfortunately, the prose with all of its very short sentences set a tone of hysteria. And the journey through this book wasn't enjoyable as the characters were so underdeveloped.

Soulmates by Holly Bourne | Goodreads

But this is not a book you should discuss based on your mind. Whether you’ll like this book – whether you can see through all this – depends on whether this book touches you. It affected me more than I expected! This is great psychological thriller but also heart wrenching romance People say that when you fall in love you can do anything and creating thunderstorms and snow is not one of the things that should be able to do. The book is filled with descriptions of mindless nonsense and 'lashings of mascarra' (a phrase that popped up at least twice and annoyed the hell of me!) Girl meets guy, Noah who is himself a walking cliche (dark brooding lead guitarist in a band with issues obviously..) girl tries to play hard to get with a witty retort (the only tiny paragraph in the entire book that I didn't despise) before giving into her whiny over analyed feelings and letting him buy her a designer dress take her to the ballet (because of course hes also rich, duh..)I LOVE to hear a familiar voice and always enjoy Barrie Kreinik's narration. Jessica Douglas-Henry is excellent as well. here’s a new title: two insufferable people who are nowhere near soulmates AND who aren’t even in seoul for 99% of the storyline. they’re in san diego.
