About this deal

We have seen an almighty void war ravage the heavens as Horus Lupercal’s fleet punched through Rogal Dorn’s defences in The Solar War . Battle lines met on Terra, and traitor Primarchs unleashed their unnatural powers in The Lost and the Damned . Perturabo commanded a battle of bloody attrition in The First Wall , making it his mission to undo the Praetorian of Terra’s impregnable defences.

Echoes of Eternity (7) (The Horus Heresy: Siege of Terra)

So all we had to do was make it all work, make it coherent, make it fit together, fill in those gaps, and do justice to the well-known sections. You can’t let readers down by changing things, or by not giving them what they quite rightly expect to see. But readers also want to be surprised and to learn things they didn’t know. That’s a lot of hours spent planning, debating, arguing, inventing… I suppose what I’m saying is that we all knew it was a major project that would take years to complete, and we were all determined to stay the course and get it done. On the other hand, it seems genuinely unreal to finally be reaching the end. Retreat turned to rout, and rout soon turned to bloodbath; thousands upon thousands of Traitor Space Marines and Titans fell attempting to flee. The ground before the Sanctum Imperialis ran red with the blood of Traitors and Heretics.

Facing a breach and potential collapse of the Imperial defences, Jaghatai Khan decided on a change of plan. Rather than assaulting the almost-invincible flanks of the Chaos army, Khan redirected his highly mobile White Scars Space Marines and the surviving Loyalist Tank Divisions of the Imperial Army to Lion's Gate Spaceport.

Zephon and Arkhan Land have nice character developments especially Land after the poor guy loses Simian. These forces were bolstered by elements of the Night Lords and 5,000 Word Bearers commanded by Zardu Layak, as the majority of the Word Bearers Legion remained under the command of the Primarch Lorgar, who had betrayed the Warmaster. The Alpha Legion had retreated from the Sol System warzone after delivering a in-depth map of the Sol System's defences to Horus. In the original lore, Lorgar himself led the Word Bearers on Terra. [Needs Citation] However as of the events of the novel Slaves to Darkness, Lorgar is banished from Horus' sight for attempting to usurp him and instead the Word Bearers at Terra were led by Zardu Layak. [4]The Vulkan v. Magnus instance was cool but I hope what Vulkan told Magnus about what happened in the Throne Room last is not a retcon (Vulkan claims the Emperor never offered Magnus a chance at redemption when in "Fury of Magnus" he does). I wonder if ADB had a chat with Mr. McNeill about this. The End and the Death: Volume I is the eighth novel and first volume of the three-part final story in The Siege of Terra series and is written by Dan Abnett. There is no way out. The walls have fallen, the gates are breached, and the defenders are slain. It is the end and the death. After seven brutal years of civil war, the Warmaster stands on the verge of victory. Horus Lupercal, once beloved son, has come to murder his father. The Emperor, a shining beacon of hope to many, an unscrupulous tyrant to others, must die. The lives of uncountable numbers have been extinguished and even primarchs, once thought immortal, have been laid low. The Emperor’s dream lies in tatters, but there remains a sliver of hope. Now, at the final hour of the final day, the Emperor rises. With Him come His Angel, His Praetorian, and His Captain, all determined to enact terrible vengeance. Yet the hope is slim, for the Warmaster sees all and knows all, and the ultimate victory of Chaos is at hand. There is no way out. The Emperor suffered grievous wounds at Horus' hands, and after a score of thrusts, parries and counter-thrusts between the Emperor's Runesword and his own Lightning Claw, Horus sliced open the Emperor's chest armour, then sliced his jugular and severed the tendons in his right wrist, disarming the Emperor. In Warhawk , Jaghatai Khan pulled off one last outlandish gambit to buy time for the beleaguered defenders by riding to face his brother Mortarion in deadly combat. And in Echoes of Eternity , Sanguinius will face off against the daemon general Ka’bandha and the Warmaster’s horde in one desperate last stand. Dan: If you’d told me at the start it was going to take 17 years and 60-plus novels, I’d have laughed in your face and doubted I would still be there at the end. But now we’ve reached the final moments, that seems entirely reasonable and barely enough. I’m really proud of the work we’ve done. And the Horus Heresy has occupied part of my headspace for all that time, so I’m going to miss it when it’s over. If you can imagine thinking, “I always knew we’d do it” and “I can’t believe we’ve done it” at the same time, you’ll be close to my current mental state.

The Angron v. Sanguinuis fight was alright but the way Sanguinuis beat Angron felt like a repeat of how the Khan beat Mortarion (loyalist primarch allows himself to get stabbed to get close and deliver a fatal blow to traitor primarch). Armies of Skitarii, Auxilia Myrmidon, Automata, Ordo Reductor, warmachines, and Daemon Engines [9e] [15b] Chaos Cultists, Traitor Imperialis Auxilia and Renegade Imperialis Militia troops made their invocations and blood sacrifices, thinning the barriers to the Immaterium and calling down the Greater Daemons of Chaos from the Warp directly onto Terran soil. With the walls of the Imperial Palace in ruins and the end in sight, Sanguinius prepares one final stand. The loyalists are desperate, and the Warmaster’s hordes are certain of their coming victory.Warhammer Community - The (Beginning of the) End is Nigh - The Final Siege of Terra Story is Revealed
