A huge chunk of this story is absolutely hilarious. The conversations between the various criminals involved, their twisted logic, morals and loyalties make for laugh-out-loud moments. I was genuinely sad to finish it.

One can only hope that the Thursday Murder Club’s next outing appears before long.” The main four though are brilliant characters; ex-spy Elizabeth, Union firebrand Ron, thoughtful Ibrahim and Joyce, who is probably the heart of the group. The dynamic between the four completely work and it was wonderful to learn more about gentle Ibrahim's past.

Richard says that he is a major fan of crime fiction and believes it is the sort of book he would eventually write. Authors he likes include Agatha Christie, Patricia Highsmith, Jeffrey Deaver, Shari Lapena, and Harlan Coben. He feels that writing a mystery novel gives him the perfect excuse to think up a perfect murder, in case you should ever need one. Real threats and real consequences, and a real understanding that while the motivations of thieves and murderers may be complex, the real villain of the piece is unstoppable illness and hard choices for those who may be left behind.
