About this deal

Measurements were taken indoors with a Hagner E4-X Lux Meter at 5 meters. The measurement was done 30 seconds after turn on. Mode Two independent switches are located at the top of the torch, a power button and a mode button. The power button turns on the EDC27 and then can be used to cycle through the different light outputs with a short half press, as long as the screen is on. The following output modes can be cycled through: Ultra Low, Low, Medium and High. To directly turn the torch to the Ultra Low output simply half press and hold the power button when the torch is off and release to turn the torch off again. Or to directly turn the torch to the Turbo output simply half press and hold the mode button when the torch is either on or off and release to return to the torch's original mode or turn the torch off. The EDC27 will remember the last used brightness level the next time it is turned on. For high-output lights, one of the lux meters uses an ND camera filter to prevent the lux meter to max out. This is either the Kenko PRO1D ND16 up till about 80,000 lumens or Gobe ND32 for anything above. If you ask me for what activities you could use this? Well, there are quite a few, keeping in mind that the lowest level is 15 lumens. For some people, that may be too high, but it totally depends on the situation and use case.

The TURBO Level (3,000 lumens) will produce massive heat rapidly during long-time activation. Use caution when operating the product on TURBO Level to avoid overheating and step down to a lower level if the product becomes too hot to handle. The Nitecore EDC27 is an rechargeable EDC torch with a unique and innovative design. Its body is very slim Ultra Slim and hence this flashlight is easy to carry anywhere. The performances of this model are exceptional, in fact it is able to release a turbo of 3000 lumens. The maximum distance that can be reached is 220 m while the maximum light intensity is 12,200 candles when the torch is turned on at turbo. The maximum runtime is 37 hours corresponding to approximately 1.50 days. The battery is integrated and is rechargeable lithium ion. It has the capacity of 1700 mAh and can be recharged directly via the Type-C port on the flashlight. The body of the EDC27 is made of stainless steel with Physical Vapor Deposition titanium coating which guarantees the torch high qualities of rigidity, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance. In addition to this, the body has a fine frosted matte finish, scratch and fingerprint resistant. The EDC27 is equipped with a hybrid dissipation system that combines a copper layer which, coupled with the aluminum of the body, allows the heat produced by the torch to be effectively dissipated when it is used at high levels.

I compare everything to the KillzoneFlashlights.com 219b BLF-348 because it’s inexpensive and has the best tint! Conclusion What I like Remaining battery power is indicated by pressing the power switch while the EDC27 is turned off and the OLED screen will display the battery level bar and the voltage. When the battery voltage is below 3.4 V the power indicator beneath the buttons will flash blue every 2 seconds to inform the user to charge the battery. When the screen is off, half press the Power Button to activate the screen before adjusting the brightness levels. Direct Access to ULTRALOW I tested the top three modes, including Turbo, which resets (or steps down) in relation to heat build up. So Turbo can last a second or less, or whatever, but let me tell you: it can get hot. Very hot.High and Turbo mode were measured with a fully charged battery. Ultra Low and Low were measured without recharging between the tests. It must be noted that not all flashlights come with easy-to-operate tactical designs, making the Nitecore EDC27 an EDC flashlight just as much as a flashlight made for tactical applications. User Interface The stated data is measured in accordance with the international flashlights testing standarts ANSI/FL 1-2019, using the built-in Li-ion battery (1,700mAh) under laboratory conditions. The data may vary in real world use due to different environmental conditions. Charging Function William goes on to explain WHY he thinks it’s the best money he spent on a flashlight. It’s very sensible.

I wouldn’t mind having this flashlight in my work bag or using it for outdoor activities, like walking the dog, or even camping. But with instant access to Turbo (3000 lumens) and Strobe, I can see it as a useful tactical light as well! Chery on top is its total reflective optic lens. This total reflective optic lens is paired with two Luminus SST40 LEDs for that crisp light beam. The EDC27 is an ultra-slim, high performance rechargeable torch with a maximum output of 3000 lumens in the turbo mode. It features an OLED screen display and utilises a USB Type-C charging port for easy and fast charging. The LEDs used inside are the Luminus SST40, which are pretty powerful for the size, but also a bit greenish in terms of beam tint. And even though most users wouldn’t even notice this, many flashoholics do. Equipped with a CREE XP-L HI V3 LED, the EDC27 delivers a focused and far-reaching beam that can reach distances of up to 463 meters. This makes it suitable for various outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and search and rescue missions.

The clip has a number of holes, too, including this loop seemingly ideal for attaching the included lanyard. When the light is on / off, half press and hold the MODE Button (STROBE READY™) to access TURBO (3,000 lumens). Release to return to the previous status or turn it off. STROBE READY™ The EDC27 is designed with user convenience in mind. It has a compact and lightweight body, allowing for easy carrying and storage. It also features a dual-switch interface, providing easy access to different modes and brightness levels. New version features proximity sensor that detects obstructions directly in front of the LEDs and lowers the brightness to prevent overheating. I’m always reluctant to test the impact resistance no matter how strong the flashlight is — yes, even one from a very reliable flashlight brand such as Nitecore. But I was a little reluctant to drop it since I had only one unit; however, the build feels strong enough.

The Nitecore EDC27 is a compact and reliable torch that offers a convenient and practical lighting solution. With a sturdy and durable construction, the EDC27 is built to withstand the rigors of everyday use. One of the biggest fears of OLED screens is their water resistance. Now you know that the entire flashlight is completely IPX4 waterproof rated. That basically means that you can peacefully use the flashlight under heavy rain. Finally, the ultra-low mode emits 18 lumens with a maximum beam throw of 17 meters and 75cd of brightness. I couldn’t help but wish if it had a 1-lumen or 0.5 lumens moonlight mode. These switches are designed to provide an excellent grip, even when your hands are wet, ensuring you have complete control over your flashlight. This gives you the freedom to attach various lanyard beads or other accessories to build your personalized style.

Because I didn’t have any rain, I tested the flashlight under a heavy shower, and it worked perfectly fine.
