About this deal

The DJI Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine are sure game changers to the world of portable, professional videography drones. Boasting an incredible dual-camera system with a 12 MP telephoto camera on top of the cinema-quality 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera on a drone weighing less than 900 grams, the Mavic 3 will go anywhere you do- and then some. The standard Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Classic have 8GB of onboard storage, plus capacity for a microSD card. They do not use Apple ProRes, instead utilising MP4/MOV (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, HEVC/H.265). Another key difference between all of the drones is that the Mavic 3 Cine and Mavic 3 Pro Cine use Apple ProRes - the industry standard for high-quality video and one of the best practical HD formats available for cinematography.

For instance, it is the only Mavic 3 aircraft to have mechanical and electronic shutters: The others only have electronic. The addition of the mechanical shutter ensures no jelly effect under high-speed movement, which is essential for a reliable surveying drone. To read more about the differences between the Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Cine, and Mavic 3 Classic, read our comparison blog. The Mavic 3 is around the same size as the Mavic 2, though opens out a little larger. Every version is supplied with a clip-round case to protect the handsome camera gimbal (assuming you can live without symmetry). Getting it on and off takes a little getting used to but gives that professional feel the device deserves and solves the issue of flapping props and at-risk cameras in drones of similar proportions. It’s no harder than the clip-on plastic protectors on other models, but it’s doing more work. The main difference between the Standard and Cine versions of the Mavic 3 is that the Standard version provides 8GB of internal storage, while the Cine features an impressive 1TB SSD with support for Apple ProRes 422 HQ video recording. Features and flightThis new DJI RC Pro controller only comes with the Cine Premium Combo, with the Standard and Fly More bundles instead coming with the DJI RC-N1 pad. (Image credit: Future) DJI’s newest revision of the Mavic line is nothing short of impressive. While the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine feature a sleek upgrade to the body with thinner arms and smoother lines, yet it still retains that iconic Mavic look. DJI boasts the imaging system on the Mavic 3 as its pièce de resistance, stating “Imaging Above Everything” and the camera system onboard proves it. Featuring a massive 20 MP Hasselblad 4/3rds CMOS image sensor, more commonly seen in small DSLR and mirrorless cameras than on drones. This sensor captures colors and hues unparalleled in previous revisions of the Mavic. Measured in an outdoor, open environment, without interference, and with FCC compliance. The above data shows the farthest communication range for one-way, non-return flights. Pay attention to RTH reminders in the DJI Fly app during your flight.

The standard controller that comes with the Standard version and Fly More Bundle is the same as the one you get with the DJI Mavic Air 2 and DJI Air 2S.Both the Mavic 3 Pro Cine and Mavic 3 Cine have an internal 1TB SSD to cater for these larger Apple ProRes files. A microSD card can also be inserted for additional capacity. Measured with Mavic 3 Pro flying at a constant speed of 32.4 kph in a windless environment at sea level until the battery level reached 0%. Data is for reference only. Please pay attention to RTH reminders in the DJI Fly app during your flight. The drone also warns you of nearby aircraft using ADS-B; a useful safety feature. (Image credit: Adam Juniper/Digital Camera World) In San Diego, flying drones is harder as we have several small airports and military bases around the county and city. This makes flying tough and time-consuming as I have to go to specific locations for test flights.
