About this deal

Race the Rails is 2-8 player family game that keeps everyone on their toes. Each player begins with a ‘Starting Station/Assistance Required’ card and after the youngest player announces ‘GO!’, everyone must search for their station on one of the Route cards that are laid out in front of all the players. Once they have located their station, players must note down the name of the station and the time on their answer sheets and look for the next station. Play continues until someone hits a Milestone. Milestones shake up the game and require players to complete a challenge, pay their way out of trouble or earn money on their journey.

The commuter is a shared passenger that is moved across London. Although they start at Euston, on each turn they will travel around, to up to two different stations. At the start of each player’s turn, four destination cards are drawn and laid out. These are either express stations [yellow] or standard stations [grey]. The passenger may only visit one express and one standard station on each turn. If four grey cards are drawn, then only one station is on the passenger’s itinerary. HIGH QUALITY card game inspired by Transport for London. Manufactured by Gibsons, ideal gift for adults and teenagers The game is all about figuring out the strongest feature of each landmark relative to your opponents’ cards. If you have the best statistic you’ll win all the cards in the round, and if you collect the most cards you’ll become “Top Trump”. As a family game, it works best for primary school-age children that have started to learn numbers and letters. It can be fun for younger kids as well, but they’ll need help reading the statistics on the cards. We’re Gibsons, the family-owned jigsaw puzzle and board game company. With so many railway games to choose from a board, game enthusiasts may view On the Underground as just another route laying game. The additional mechanics of scoring points, only if the passenger travels on your line, is a new mechanic. In the same way as knowing exactly where to stand on the platform at Piccadilly Circus so that the doors open right in front of you, these few tips will assist in gameplay. Tips The massive network of London Underground stations makes up one of the most complex transportation systems in the world, and On the Underground challenges you to develop it. Build the most successful lines, connect them to landmarks, and attract passenger traffic!

Having a double-sided board, this does increase replay ability. The Berlin side provides freshness. There is also a different set of bonus points in scoring too. Instead of Big Ben, the Berlin destinations are indicated Berlin’s Fermsehtutm. This is a tall radio tower with a viewing platform and revolving restaurant. More About The Game The markers that are placed to indicate the passenger’s destination are Big Ben figures, painted yellow or grey depending on the station type. This placement of these wooden pieces will show clearly where the passenger should be travelling. Their size and printing indicate the quality of this game. In On the Underground, the players build the Underground lines in London or the U-Bahn lines in Berlin. Each player controls 2-4 different lines, depending on the number of players. There are many features of On the Underground that make it a very enjoyable game. The component quality and the opportunity for planning in advance the movements of the passenger really elevate the game. Every game seems to be very close in its outcome. There is certainly no runaway leader. Unfortunately, with limited points to be awarded at every turn, most of the time the players are advancing their tokens by just two or three points, leapfrogging each other. Follow the routes of the famous lines, make the connections on time and try not to get held up by obstacles along the way. Keep your eyes peeled, mind the gap and stand clear of the doors!
