About this deal

We imagine some of you will be owners of older Logitech G-series wheels wondering whether you should upgrade or not. If you’re after PS4 support, the old wheels will do you no good. They don’t work with the console, despite a 20,000-strong petition to get Logitech to add PS4 support (which some claim would be possible).

As far as adjustability, this stand allows you to adjust the wheel height, wheel angle, pedal position, and even which side the shifter is mounted on. Even with the sturdy steel frame and adjustments, you can still fold this stand up in seconds and store it away when not in use. Our top sim racing wheel stand for the Logitech G29/G90 is the Next Level Racing Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0. This is about as premium as a wheel stand can get without being a full blown rig. Update– Logitech has released a new version of the G29, called the G923. You can read our full review of the Logitech G923, and why it’s better than the G29 here. But come 2020, five years after its initial launch. Does the Logitech G29 still remain the king of entry-level racing wheels? We have owned a G920 for almost five years, and it’s been in regular rotation in our sim rig since day one. The Logitech G29 Driving Force does its best to look and feel like a ‘real’ steering wheel. And those of you who have owned or wanted one of these wheels for years will notice it looks an awful lot like the Logitech G27, its last-gen brother. First, the stand is not really noticeably lighter than the old one. I would cut some "speed holes" into the base-plate specifically to lighten it up. Also, I messed up when cutting the mounting holes for the pedal-box so the inside pair of bolts do not line up. The bolt pattern for this pedal-box is asymmetric, and I accidentally cut mine with the inside bolts offset towards the wrong side (they would be perfect if the pedal-box was turned 180 degrees, but of course that would make it difficult to drive). No big deal since the 4 outside bolts are more than enough to hold it. The feel of the Logitech G29 wheel is pretty much identical to the older G27. It seems it’s built to withstand punishment, and is far hardier than the cheap wheels you may have used until now. However, the upholstery is not quite supercar-grade: there was a bit of flabby flappiness to two parts on the rear. These PS4 exclusive touches really finish the wheel off nicely and give it that racing vibe. These weren’t included on the Xbox version due to restrictions with the Xbox architecture. Meaning Xbox gamers such as myself, miss out.

If you are in the market for a stand, it’s important to consider what factors make one stand better or worse than another. For this top 3 list, we looked at many different factors when determining which stand you should buy. Price As you grow as a racer, you will progress from the G29 through to belt-driven wheels and even direct drive wheels further down the line. This progression as a driver, and in terms of hardware will be ever rewarding when you make the next jump up. Unlike a few other starter pedal sets, Logitech is generous enough to include a third pedal. This is great to see, as Logitech also sell an add-on shifter. It’s a three-pedal setup: accelerator, brake and clutch. Each has a different tension style, mirroring what you get in a real car. The important improvement in the G29 is the brake. It’s progressive, with more tension at the end of its depression to give you much better control over the force of the brake and a more realistic. It’s a big improvement over the old wheels, and the pedal set included with the Thrustmaster T300 RS. The wheelbase looks, well… Like a wheelbase. There is a lot of plastic, and a few nice design features such as little vents. But other than that it looks just fine. The steering wheel however looks great. for a budget racing wheel, this rim looks remarkably high end.

Our Verdict

When not in use, you can almost instantly fold this stand up for easy storage. This wheel stand is compatible with the Logitech G29/G920 and all other popular sim racing wheels and pedals.

If you are completely new to sim racing, the Logitech G29 racing wheel is a fantastic place to start your journey. It is almost the most natural way to start. But after spending some time with the G29 or G920, you start to become aware of its downside. Those gears produce a lot of spiking and jumping. The Logitech has been around for quite a bit of time now, and it has stood the test of time well. For the past five years, the G29 has had a good grip on the “My first racing wheel” consumer. Since buying the G29, we’ve gone on to own and drive with a complete range of racing wheels. From Thrustmaster equivalents, up to the extreme power of Fanatec’s direct-drive racing wheels. But we have always kept our humble G920, and it still gets it’s time in the spotlight from time to time. Is this the best PS4 wheel? Right now there are no perfect options, and just a few very good ones. The Logitech G29 sits among them, with a nice leather-upholstered wheel and plenty of PS4 specific controls. The G29 / G920 has made many gamers fall in love with sim racing, including ourselves. And for that reason, we would wholeheartedly recommend it to new racers! This is especially present when you hit a large bump or rumble strip. The wheel feels like it skips a gear or two, making the car feel light. This isn’t accurate and when you’re not expecting it can catch you out.
