About this deal

Someone had made a gigantic star out of cardboard bedpans. It was kind of revolting and charming at the same time. Little Beach Street Bakery is a sweet, entertaining tale about learning to navigate the harsh realities of life and finding what you’re passionate about. It’s the perfect read for foodie fiction fans and readers simply looking for a light-hearted read. Hoover is one of the freshest voices in new-adult fiction, and her latest resonates with true emotion, unforgettable characters and just the right amount of sexual tension. I don’t know how I’ve failed to mention the best part of the story this far into my review! When Polly moves to Polbearne she unintentionally takes on a new pet which she names Neil. Neil, the puffin. I rarely read Christmas themed books at any time of the year, yet as soon as I saw this one I knew it would come home from the library with me. It is just the thing for those times you want something light and feel good to read. And I was not disappointed. Even though at times things seem a bit over the top, I was happy to go along with it. It was easy to be drawn into the stories and problems of these characters.

Sunrise by the Sea: Escape to the Cornish coast with this

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen: Audiobook Review & Go Behind the Scenes with Narrator Rosamund Pike I love Jenny Colgan's other books - The Bookshop on the Corner and Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe - but this one didn't hit as well as those ones. It makes you think of Narnia, of happy places, of childhood innocence and the charm of Cornwall all in one.

Travel Guide

A thriving bakery. A lighthouse to call home. A handsome beekeeper. A pet puffin. These are the things that Polly Waterford can call her own. This is the beautiful life she leads on a tiny island off the southern coast of England. Polbearne, a quaint seaside village off the coast of England, is based off the actual island St. Michael’s Mount in Cornwall. Colgan’s descriptions of the village were thorough, detailing not only the people and their way of life but of the town itself and the sole causeway being the only way to come and go on the island. While the people in the village weren’t always the most friendly (since they saw Polly as an outsider), the village itself sounded like a such a lovely place to reside with its small shops on cobbled streets and a ruined yet still charming castle on the top of a hill overlooking the island. What a delightful book. I've not read the two previous book about Polly Waterford adventure in Mount Polbearne, but I'm dying to do so. I was surprised to discover how serious the book theme was, sure there was a lot of funny moments, but the book also had a lot of serious things going, like Kerensa's BIG secret, or things concerning a person from Polly's past or rather her mother's past. So, yes, a bit cliche. But, really, if it’s working, why fix it? So, Polly (what an adorable name!) finds herself in said predicament. She then decides to move to a little island town off the coast of Cornwall. Now, seeing as how the farthest away from California that I’ve ever been is Wyoming–I really have no idea what England or any of its charming counties are actually like. But, when I was reading this novel, it was so easy to picture myself surrounded by the violent sea and dilapidated stone buildings that make up Polbearne. Note: I realize the above quote isn't consistent with how light I made the book sound but this quote stood out to me. I love the ocean and find it very therapeutic. I've experienced this quote first-hand and I marked it immediately.

Tienes que buscar lo que te haga feliz. Es la única manera de vivir. Tienes que hacer lo que más te gusta. Cuando descubras qué te gusta hacer, hazlo con todas tus ganas…” After reading Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery, book three in the Little Beach Street Bakery series did I just have to read the first book because I found the one I read marvelous. Neil was by far the cutest addition to the story even though he was unrealistically tame, but whatever! Now I want a pet puffin.Review: Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family by Omid Scobie & Carolyn Durand
