On the nose: the rum is sweet and fruity, bold banana flavours (foam banana sweets, warm banana bread topped with brown sugar), lots of sweets flavours (chocolate limes, cola cubes, candy floss), subtle cinnamon and vanilla. The new rum combines natural ripe banana with toffee and offers tropical fruits and earthy notes on the nose.

Langs Banana Rum was first released in the late 1800s, and at some point between then and now it disappeared from shelves. This is not where the story ends, however, as that would be incredibly anti-climactic. So, in 2020, Langs Banana Rum returned! Built around a base of aged and unaged Jamaican rum, produced in pot and column stills, and infused with natural fruit flavours, this is an enjoyably bright and funky spirit. Langs Banana Rum is the first flavoured rum in Ian Macleod’s portfolio, which includes King Robert II Dark Rum and White Rum, and Watson’s Demerara and Trawler dark rums. The banana variant is the first in a new range of flavoured rums from the Langs brand, which will be released in the coming months. Ian Macleod has planned a phased roll out for the brand in the UK on-trade. Our label displays our original import of 1861, as this was original launch date of Langs Banana Rum by the Langs Brothers in Glasgow.

Langs Mango and Ginger Rum is described as having notes of mango coulis, meringue and vanilla on the nose, while the palate brings mango, peach, lime and crystallised ginger. The rum is recommended served neat, over ice, or mixed with pineapple juice. Combining a flavourful core of aged rum from Barbados with hibiscus, orange blossom, and honeybush, Suncamino boasts layers of silky sweet caramel and floral fruits – plus the distinct character of the honeybush make this a unique little treat. A commonplace tipple of the ’20s, pineapple gin fell off the map and was lost to time for a while. That Boutique-y Gin Company has rescued it from that fate and given it a 21st century twist! Whole pineapples are roasted on a spit with Demerara sugar until they’re gloriously caramelised, and they’re then combined with a particularly bold gin, helping to cut through the sweet pineapple.
