Stars. I enjoyed this. I don't read a lot of YA anymore and there were a lot of situations in this book that reminded me why I don't, but despite that, I liked Wes and Maeve's relationship and there was a lot of cuteness. Her success was so overly looked, she won, she played she was involved and they overlooked her like she was nothing. And it pained me, that the world saw her or her family name not of her own achievements. You love someone based on their dreams, their character, their hopes, how they make you feel. But I do believe you can spot potential at first sight. Because I had an inkling Weston Cole had the potential to implode my cautious, predictable world from that moment in the woods, long before I had any real reason to suspect he might.” I also had a lot of fun getting to know both characters' sets of friends. We don't spend loads of time with each group since our main characters are always sneaking away to see each other, but I appreciated the time we had with them. Because I do. Love her. Even though there are a lot of reasons why I probably shouldn’t. Those reasons have never made sense, though, and they’ve become sillier and sillier the more time I’ve spent with Maeve.”

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! While there were a few things I didn't love, those things didn't ruin the rest of the book for me. I liked the romance between Mauve and Weston and liked seeing them grow in the relationship. This book started off strong! It started with how our main characters, Mauve and Weston, first met. I liked experiencing this moment rather than hearing about it later in the story. It was also kinda fun to see how the characters differ a little 3 years later. They confided in each other about the ways of the world, about the issues they faced, and I think if they had been any different in their characters their roles, they never would’ve shared it. I think there’s so much that goes off this by knowing they could be ruined with the information they told, but knowing the other wouldn’t. Lastly, I wish I could have gotten to know Mauve’s twin, Liam, a little better. Or he at least could have had more screen time. He’s basically only mentioned in passing until the very end which I was sad about. To be such an important person in Mauve’s life, we hardly ever see him.The moment she called Wes drunk and he dropped everything to make sure she was okay and THEY WERE BROKEN UP?? I love him more for that. I hate that he pushed her away because he was terrified of losing her and being her second choice, but with his home life it was understandable. The book could have been amazing without all the breakup drama if they had communicated, but I love their relationship . What particularly peeved me that for all the intensity that the two opposing towns rivalry was depicted as - it only took a public loud drunken break-up, a heated apology, and a begrudging acceptance from Maeve's friends, to see that their rivalry was indeed petty, and that they truly were better off as friends and finding a balance between the two opposing sides. I think I was actually hoping for more drama or action to ensue after their relationship was brought to light - it felt very down-played and low-key, rather than the expectations of fear they had been harboring. Because, once their differences were settled, it mattered very little in the end, because when they do finally interact, it's apparent to everyone involved that there really is nothing that sets them apart from each other. 😔😔

I’ve heard a lot of things about Weston Cole. Popular. Conceited. Supercilious. He’s spent the last three years steadily dismantling my family’s legacy. I should hate him. And I did. Until I encountered him freshman year and discovered he’s also troubled. Captivating. Audacious. And when I come across him again senior year, it turns out that knowledge is even more dangerous than his suggestive smirk… PLEASE TELL ME THAT IRL AMERICAN TOWNS ARE NOT SO OBSSESSED WITH HIGH-SCHOOL FOOTBALL AND THAT THE RIVALRY WAS JUST THE STUFF OF BOOKS???? But he saw her, as Maeve not an extension of Stevens. Wes saw her for her lifelong achievements, her running in the morning, extra time spent every second on the soccer field.I also had a lot of fun getting to know both characters’ sets of friends. We don’t spend loads of time with each group since our main characters are always sneaking away to see each other, but I appreciated the time we had with them. Wes and Maeve were beautiful, they truly defied my expectations and I loved every moment of it. It was ruthlessly amusing and breathtaking in the best way.

Book Genre: Contemporary, Contemporary Romance, Football, High School, Romance, Soccer, Sports, Sports Romance, Young Adult, Young Adult Romance Little boy needed to grovel and grow tf up idc. Does he apologize? Eventually, but personally, it wasn’t enough after what he did and what he said. Those reasons have never made sense, though, and they’ve become sillier and sillier the more time I’ve spent with Maeve.” What a nice contemporary romance! I wasn't really sure what to expect going in especially because I was getting Romeo and Juliet vibes from the synopsis, but I really enjoyed this book! And aside from the romance, I also appreciated how it also centered around their own personal lives at home and at school. There was a healthy balance between all three storylines that successfully showed how each was vital to the other. Seeing Maeve gain the courage to stand up for herself and earn her father's respect and attention was a rewarding moment and for Wes to see that even under the veneer of his parents' unsatisfactory marriage, there were still the hints of love that tethered them together. If it was not for their own tryst, this little appreciations may have gone unwarranted for a lot longer - so, in a way, there was some good that came out of their secret liaison. 💞💞Ever since her younger sister’s engagement was announced, Harper Williams has been dreading the wedding. What should be a joyous, sun-drenched affair is sure to be filled with plenty of awkward moments, thanks to Harper’s strained relationship with her only sibling. Awkwardness enhanced by the wedding’s location—a lake in Maine, swimming with painful memories of their late father. It bothered me more than I expected, not only because I’m far from Liam’s biggest fan. I wonder if I even would have noticed if she hadn’t already flat-out told me people only see her as her father’s daughter or her brother’s sister” One thing that kinda bothered me was the timing of things. Like one chapter something would happen and then the next chapter would take place a week or two later. And that’s how most of the book was. As well, there were a few times where Mauve or Weston would mention something that happened between the two of them, but it was like off the record. For example, Mauve got one of Weston’s sweatshirts, but we never see her get it. She just tells her she got it from him at some point. This happened with things a few times which I didn’t love, but it didn’t ruin the story for me.

This is an excellent novel for people who love to read because it has done an amazing job. The author expressed all the characters in a unique way that creates the impression that the reader is also part of the story and knows every detail of all the characters. This would truly be one of the most extraordinary novels. The author has shown great craftsmanship in the novel, this is extraordinary in every sense of the word, only the depth of this book is spectacular, not to mention the diversity and representation and quality of the writing and complex characters. Everything is simply outstanding. The author has shown the same level of skill in previous books such as. Problem is, neither of them is looking for a relationship. At most, they’re meant to be a summer fling. Definitely not a happily ever after. What a nice contemporary romance! I wasn’t really sure what to expect going in especially because I was getting Romeo and Juliet vibes from the synopsis, but I really enjoyed this book! the party scene - where maeve caught him kissing emily. i love those type of scenes but once again the way the author wrote it LIKE SHOW ME THE TENSION AND ANGER not just maeve being like "im so angry " If my feelings for Maeve have taught me anything, it’s that sometimes you love the people you shouldn’t. Because I do. Love her. Even though there are a lot of reasons why I probably shouldn’t.
