About this deal

The immediate difference between the Boarding Patrol and other Warhammer 40,000 Detachments is that nothing is compulsory,” Rich explains. “It’s perfectly viable to take no Troops or HQs whatsoever, allowing lists to lean into clear concepts like an all- Navy Breacher force, or take nothing but Khorne Berzerkers – the gentleman’s choice.”

There’s much profit to be found in the esoteric salvage secreted aboard these rotting void-barges – and you can acquire it for the glory of your own Hold with five cybernetically-enhanced Cthonian Beserks, five diamond-hard Einhyr Hearthguard, and 10 geared-up Hearthkyn Warriors, all led by a proud Einhyr Champion. Imperial Agents We’ve already taken our first peek at the rules for this new expansion. Today, we’re joined by Rich Butler from the Warhammer Studio team to have a look at the armies you’ll be building. Some weapons have ‘Blast’ listed in their profile’s abilities. These are referred to as Blast weapons. In addition to the normal rules, the following rules apply to Blast weapons:Tactically, boarding actions lists are all about navigating the new challenges of a space ship – and each mission brings fresh challenges,” Rich adds. “For example, which unit will you walk through a furnace to score Victory Points, and which unit do you task with guarding the OFF switch for said furnace? Building your ideal Boarding Patrol is the first of many decisions you’ll need to make.”

The document also moves AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM to the Faction keyword box – for those looking to field an entire Detachment of special agents. If you want to build a Boarding Patrol of Inquisitorial agents or Navy privateers, you can do that too – free rules are available in the Boarding Actions Mustering Dataslate .Some rules allow you to re-roll a dice roll, which means you get to roll some or all of the dice again. If a rule allows you to re-roll a dice roll that was made by adding several dice together (2D6, 3D6 etc.) then, unless otherwise stated, you must re-roll all of those dice again. If a rule allows you to re-roll specific dice results, only those dice can be re-rolled. If a rule allows you to re-roll a specific dice result, but the result is obtained by halving a D6 (such as when rolling a D3), you use the value of the halved roll to determine if it can be re-rolled, not the value of the original D6. For example, if a rule states to re-roll results of 1, and you roll a D3, you would re-roll if the D6 rolled a 1 or a 2 (which is then halved to get a D3 value of a 1). The latest issue of White Dwarf magazine continues the story of the space hulk Herald of Misery , adding new rules for deadly laser grids to Boarding Actions games and two short stories concerning the forces fighting within. Meanwhile, a Tale of Four Warlords takes on its second challenge of the year, while Part Five of The Great Stomp introduces campaign rules for Warhammer Age of Sigmar games set in the Living Peaks. Imperial Navy Breachers – the elite fighting troops of the Imperium, specialized in boarding actions and space combat. They are extremely versatile, expertly trained, and have access to a variety of weapons, suitable both for close-quarters and range combat. The Warhammer Community team has come up with a few of our own sample lists to see what’s possible. Hearthkyn Warriors – sturdy, specialized Kin soldiers clad in enclosed void armor. They have access to a wide variety of weapons and war gear, making them extremely versatile in combat.

The (tweaked) Agents of the Imperium ability allows Navy Breachers to join up with any IMPERIUM Boarding Patrol – appropriate, as it’s their job – and means they won’t even disrupt the Chapter playbook. One or more units from your army can start to perform this action at the end of the Move Units step of your Movement phase if they are within 1" of a Hatchway. This action can be performed by any unit that is not within Engagement Range of any enemy models, even if that unit is being affected by a rule that would normally prevent it from performing actions. The action is completed at the end of your Movement phase if no enemy models are within 1" of that Hatchway. If there are any enemy models within 1" of that Hatchway, your opponent can attempt to prevent the action from being completed. If they do so, roll off with your opponent; each player adds the Strength characteristic of one of their models that is within 1" of that Hatchway to their respective scores. If you win, the action is completed; otherwise, the action fails. If completed, that Hatchway opens (if it was closed) or closes (if it was open).Rules AdaptationsIf your Faction is AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM, then the following rules adaptations apply. Azrael isn’t the only Chapter Master given the Primaris treatment – Commander Dante has barely tied a bow on the apocalyptic invasion of Baal and he’s already off finding more enemies of the Imperium to destroy. Someone really needs to give the guy a holiday. Vashtorr the Arkifane Boarding Actions are an excellent way to build small, thematic armies that can’t fill the full-sized battlefields of Warhammer 40,000, such as these Aeldari Corsairs . Prince Yriel of Iyanden leads his Eldritch Raiders into the bowels of a great Ark, filling all three Corsair squads with mid-range troops that can load an ungodly number of power swords into a cool 499 points. As the warring armies close upon one another and vicious firefights erupt, the Codex lays out strategies for swiftly seizing the initiative and combining versatility with firepower. While this combat doctrine is active, improve the Armour Penetration characteristic of every Rapid Fire and Assault weapon that models in this unit are equipped with by 1. Agent of the ImperiumIf your army is Battle-forged, you can include one AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM unit in each IMPERIUM (excluding FALLEN units) Patrol, Boarding Patrol, Battalion, Brigade and Arks of Omen Detachment in your army without those units taking up Battlefield Role slots in those Detachments. The inclusion of an AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM unit does not prevent other units from their Detachment benefiting from Detachment abilities (e.g. Chapter Tactics), and it does not prevent other units from your army benefiting from abilities that require every model in your army to have that ability (e.g. Combat Doctrines). An AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM unit included in a Patrol, Boarding Patrol, Battalion, Brigade or Arks of Omen Detachment in this manner is ignored for any rules that state all units from that Detachment must have at least one Faction keyword in common (e.g. in a matched play game), and when determining your Army Faction.

So we’ll take a look at the possible values soon. Final Two Warhammer 40k Boarding Patrols Announced By GW When mustering your Boarding Patrol, select one of the following: ACOLYTE units; NAVIS IMPERIALIS Troops units; ADEPTUS ARBITES Troops units. The selected units from your army gain the Objective Secured ability. The Imperial Agents faction is all about the Imperial Navy and its colorful personnel. Boarding Patrol: Imperial Agents will contain the following: If your Boarding Patrol does not include any CHARACTER models (other than OFFICIO ASSASSINORUM models) but does include an EXACTION SQUAD unit, you can give an Enhancement to that unit’s Proctor-Exactant model as if it was a CHARACTER model. An Eversor Assassin – a true embodiment of fury and death, this assassin does not use stealth and precision, but sheer psychotic fury and unbridled destruction. Only death can stop him from fulfilling his mission. The interest in Boarding Patrols has been very high, and Games Workshop has been steadily stoking the fire. The past few months have brought us constant Boarding Patrol reveals, but the time has finally come to close the reveal season with the final two factions to join the boarding action – the Leagues of Votann and Imperial Agents. They’re joined by an Eversor Assassin, presumably for the levity of his presence and not because a murderously volatile living bomb is exactly what you need in an operations zone separated from the freezing cold of space by less than a metre of bulkhead… The massive Cerberus Heavy Tank Destroyer is an armoured beast , mounting a triple-barrelled neutron laser battery onto a rugged Spartan hull to create a devastatingly focused anti-tank weapon. It can detonate tanks in a single blast while shrugging off return fire like it’s nothing – everything you want in a Lord of War. Sicaran Venator Tank Hunter You can include up to 3 INQUISITION CHARACTER models, but only one of them can be an INQUISITOR model.
