About this deal

Fiddle-leaf figs: Select stems that are around 6-8 inches long and have at least two sets of leaves. Remove the lower leaves and dip the cut end in rooting hormone before planting. Apply rooting hormone: Dip the bottom end of each cutting into rooting hormone powder or gel. Be sure to coat the cuttings thoroughly but not excessively.

Another option is to simply place the cutting in a vase filled with water. If you choose this method you will need to wait until the cutting develops the roots in a natural way. Make sure to change the water regularly to prevent rot and other potential problems. Dip the cuttings in rooting hormone: Dip the cut end of the cutting into the prepared rooting hormone solution for a few seconds. Shake off any excess hormone and ensure that the entire cut end is covered.Evergreen shrubs and hedges: To keep clipped and shaped, hedges may require two or three clipping sessions between spring and autumn (don’t disturb nesting birds though). You can use a hedge cutter if you would like a more uniform shape or secateurs to create a natural, bushy appearance. Also see Renovate below. Renovate

Once fertilizer has been applied there is not much you can do to promote flowering this season and you may have to wait till the following year for blooms. Identify healthy stems: Look for stems that are free from disease, damage, or signs of stress. Healthy stems typically have vibrant green leaves, firm stems, and no discoloration or wilting. Lavender: Choose non-flowering stems that are semi-hardwood and 4-6 inches long. Strip off the lower leaves and treat the cut end with a rooting hormone before planting. However strong fertilizer or frequent applications of fertilizer should be avoided as this promotes foliage and growth of vines at the expense of flowers.

Propagating Your Honeysuckle

Before planting, set up some kind of option for the plant to be able to climb: a lattice, a pergola, a wall or even simply an old tree for it to climb on, unless you’ve chosen a ground-hugging cover variety. Potting soil: A well-draining potting soil is essential to provide the right growing conditions for the cuttings.
