About this deal

Ever wondered how to make a star projector? Sold as the 4M Night Sky Projection Kit, (or in the U.K. as the Science Museum Create A Night Sky) this cardboard cut-out might not seem at first to be a worthy addition to our list of the best star projectors. After all, what's on offer here is merely some tiny holes in cardboard positioned over a lamp. The resulting image is pretty basic, of course, but how you get there is the clever part. Its body resembles a well-known sci-fi character (R2D2); we're sure this wasn't an accident. A pill-shaped device pivots vertically on a stand to expose either the planetarium end, which is ultimately a light with a plastic cover over the top allowing small 'stars' to be outwardly projected or a slide projector with a focusing ring. Using another of the supplied light covers), the star projector can also be used as a simple blue-colored night light.

Star and galaxy projectors also have some benefits for children. These simple devices serve as a night light for kids who are afraid of the dark. Your kids can get up and go to the bathroom or get a drink of water at night without turning on all of the lights in your home. Star projectors can also foster their creativity and get them interested in science. The right one will encourage them to come up with new stories about the planets and stars that they see. A projector may also get your child excited to learn about the planets and constellations. How Can You Use a Projector? Why it made the cut: With 10 light displays to choose from, smart app control, voice control with Alexa and Google, and other smart features, this star projector has a lot to offer. The Atmosphere Smart Galaxy Projector is super easy to use, and you can use voice control to change colors, adjust brightness and control the speed. You can also use your smartphone with a Smart App (for Android and iOS) to give commands. The device has a color wheel where you can choose from a wide range of tones, from cool blue to warm fiery red. However, during testing, we found that most of the 16.7 million different colors were hard to tell apart with the naked eye. Like many other star projectors, there's a 'shooting star' function, although, in our Sega Homestar Flux review, we explained how we'd like this to be at random intervals, or in a different place each time so it isn't as predictable. It has an automatic switch-off after 15, 30 or 60 minutes function. As just mentioned, this star projector is ideal for both adults and children. Use it as a calming and relaxation aid for those days where you’ve been stressed out and under pressure. Or for children who find it hard to settle at bed time and need a little bit of help. Adjust the speed freely according to your child’s preference.National Geographic Astro Planetarium would make a nice space gift for a budding astronomer. It has great functionality, with a time and date selector and a built-in speaker.★★★★½ The LED shines bright and the colors and lasers are both vivid and can both be dimmed to suit the mood. The 'stars' (laser) and the 'nebula' (LEDs) can be independently controlled. The Ambience Galaxy & Star Projector resembles a UFO shape and has a faceted dome to help disperse the LED over 180 degrees. After reviewing lots of star projectors, this is a unique design. The laser is always green (though you can adjust the intensity of it or turn it off completely) whereas the LEDs can be configured into a multitude of colors and color combinations. You can choose from 16.7 million colors thanks to the RGB model color wheel. Whilst this is technically true, in reality, that amount of different hues aren't distinguishable. The faceted dome shape means the lights can be projected and dispersed over 180-degrees, meaning the whole ceiling is covered with lights.

Here's one for space fans and paleontology enthusiasts alike. The second novelty-shaped projector in this guide and it's surprisingly capable in terms of functionality, and during our Dinosaur Egg Galaxy Star Projector review our children loved it! Bliss Lights SkyLite 2.0, although superseded by the Evolve as mentioned above, is still an excellent star projector that features most of the same functionality, just not Google or Alexa voice control. It looks different because it is 'wheel-shaped' rather than spherical, but it slots nicely onto a bookshelf without taking up much space.BlissLights Sky Lite EvolveThe nebulas are bright and endearing, complimented perfectly by the hue of the blue/green lasers. This is a great option for anyone shopping for a mood-enhancing star projector (rather than a scientific one). ★★★½ The projector has a three-watt LED bulb that can project up to 106 inches in diameter from a distance of 60 to 90 inches away. Those ultra-bright lights are also easily visible on most surfaces, though some reviewers wish the projector was bright enough to see in dimly lit places. During our Atmosphere Smart Galaxy Projector review, we were impressed by its sleek design that's sure to delight many: it's modern and compact, allowing the user to place it anywhere in the household without ruining the aesthetic. The unit can be adjusted to four angles, making it flexible enough to project from your selected surface onto the wall or ceiling.

It serves no other purpose or provides any scientific accuracy. Still, it is a discrete, affordable, high-quality device that puts out visually stunning lasers to transform your surroundings while drawing very little energy. The Pococo Galaxy Star Projector is a worthy addition to this guide, and it is a good rival to the National Geographic Astro Planetarium and the much more expensive Sega Homestar Flux. During our full Pococo Galaxy star projector review, we found it a good value star projector with decent build and projection quality. If you’re looking for special features like rotation capabilities, remote control, specific color combinations, smart app controls, or other features, be sure to consider this when shopping for your galaxy room projector. Colors Encalife Ambience Galaxy & Star Projector:A neat combination of a star projector and Bluetooth speaker built into one. It isn't scientifically accurate but it displays vivid nebula-inspired patterns to enhance the ambience in any room. ★★★½

When you can’t go to the aurora borealis, you can bring the aurora borealis to you with this SOAIY night light projector. It recreates the gorgeous looks of the northern lights and places those lights in your home. If you want to switch to a different setting, you can choose from seven different light displays. The projection lamp can run all night, but it also has one, two and four hour timers that you can use. It also lets you choose between a still or a rotating image and from three different brightness settings. Thanks to the built-in speaker, you can plug in a phone or music player and listen to music as you relax to the moving lights. PopPhoto has a long history of delivering the opinions of some of the sharpest and most prolific camera dorks the world has to offer. Since 1937, we’ve been reviewing cameras, providing wisdom from well-known photographers, and generally just nerding out about all that goes into making great pictures. Our current crop of writers and editors have decades of professional photography and camera writing experience among them. Collectively, we’ve probably shot with just about every camera and lens combo you can imagine—as well as some obscure stuff you may not even know about. Remember the Casio Tryx folding camera? PopPhoto does. The projector is feature-rich on its own, but this unit does so much more than just shine lights. It also has a built-in Bluetooth speaker. Connect it to a compatible device and enjoy some tunes. Or, take advantage of the white noise generator as you drift off to sleep. Key Features: The wheel shape of Atmosphere is similar to BlissLights'SkyLite 2.0, but with four support panels over two giving a little more flexibility than the aforementioned when positioning. It can also be laid flat and has little rubber 'pads' to stop it from getting scratched if you do. It is slim and easily fits on a bookcase or bedside table and it also ships with a long power cable (USB-A to DC) to allow repositioning of any kind. There isn't a 'top X star projector list' you'll come across without finding the Sega Toys Homestar Flux taking a podium position. Unlike many 'star projectors,' this model's main focus (no pun intended) is to project a realistic-looking, high-quality image of extraterrestrial subjects onto your wall or ceiling, often using real photos from various observation stations around the world. It ships with two disks as standard, but with over 30 compatible disks available as additional add-ons, there's a greater level of exploration to be had than with other star projectors and home planetariums.

The Galaxy Projector 2.0 uses low wattage lasers and produces little to no heat. It's kid- and pet-friendly The 2.0 version of our original Galaxy Projector gives you more power to control and conquer your space.
