As she gets to know this stranger, this powerful man, a gradual awareness comes over her that maybe he isn’t the total monster she has been led to believe he is. Their shared secrets of their pasts leads her to discover he may be an ordinary man and possibly worthy of her attention. All of Ms. Kincaid’s stories fill the romance story requirements very well with an abundance of HEA or HFN. Alejandro Montoya is the type of “boy” my mama always warned me to stay away from! The thing is ... he’s not just another “boy.” He is SEXY! He is RUTHLESS! He is ALL MAN! It’s so convenient and weird to have both of their mothers unknowing of their sham of a marriage. Like…why are these two women portrayed as these “feeble” things that can’t understand business marriages? If 25 year Alana can understand it, then at least one of those grown ass women could as well. And if not even one of those grown women could understand it, then maybe the premise really makes no type of sense.
In the first of Ms. Kincaid’s Ruthless series, all located in large cities, London Ruthless starts with Dark Angel. Gabriel Sullivan is a calculating, ruthless man, at the top of his game. Always getting what he wants, he moves in a dark, dangerous world and he’s at the top of his game. I made my way to the dining room and wondered if I was going to regret my decision to eat dinner with my new wife, and whether I would regret even more allowing her to choose the meal. I saw a completely different side to him when she was around, and it was a side of him I could learn to like. Starts with an arranged marriage taking place. I kind of feel like I stepped into the middle of this book 😬… but it’s not some big mystery, which makes it easy to follow. Because half the time, how our characters are depicted to say a line, does not match the feeling of the scene or the pre developed emotions thrumming the scene along. You growl when you’re frustrated, as a sexual thing, annoyed- something. Nothing that makes sense and has already been established leads to this man growling. It just comes off as weird and as if you just heard that growling men are a thing in erotic novels so you make your male protagonist growl for any nonsense that happens or doesn’t happen or make sense. Like he’s a damn werewolf or something. The supporting characters were fantastic! I really liked Jax and Hugo! Oh Hugo ... Sigh This book was erotic, sensual and sexy hot!! Both Alejandro and Alana together are what fantasies are made of! I’d left Alana my credit card that morning, and while I’d told her that I didn’t care how much of my money she spent, I did want to know exactly what I might be walking into later.
