We read war books here, don’t we? We read tales – the heresy series is millions of words of tales – about war as fought by gods and monsters, but they’re not really war. They’re fantasy war, where the end is short and painful and bloody, but rarely horrifying. The horror is supposed to come from the setting, that every death in the book is in service to some impossibly horrific cause, or in the light of the monstrous Imperium. Echoes is war, war as horrific and bloody and pointless – as a monster that damages and corrupts in and of itself, even in our universe where it doesn’t (hopefully) have a God. The End and the Death is the eighth and final novel of the Siege of Terra series. [1] It will be split into an unknown number of parts. [2]Wow… how do you fit all that in? There are so many Primarchs still left on Terra or interacting with Terra, and there must have been a strong temptation to tell these stories, but Dembski-Bowden doesn’t – or rather he does, but through the eyes of others. When Spear was engulfed in the Chieftain's flames, his expression and design both make him resemble Red Hulk from Marvel Comics. That night, Spear settles around a campfire to eat and watch the tribespeople perform a cultural dance. Mira joins him, but Spear, as a Neanderthal, becomes overwhelmed by the Human's performance. Feeling out of place and unwelcomed, Spear leaves the campfire. Noticing Spear distancing himself, Mira goes after him and leads him to his new home, a new house in the village. Fang, her offspring, and Spear settle into their new home, but Spear remains somber. As Fang and her offspring sleep, Spear draws out his life story on the walls of the home, even using his own blood to make some of the paintings. The next day, Mira enters Spear's home to find him asleep and his new mural finished. Mira takes notice of how Spear had painted her and Fang happy and with their families, while he had drawn himself alone off to the side.

[4] In July 2009, the band announced signing with the German underground label Massacre Records for European distribution. As Shadows Burn was released in Europe on September 25, 2009, with an American release by Nuclear Blast on September 22. With the release of Siege of Terra: Echoes of Eternity this weekend, the Warmaster’s forces push forward on Terra, and the epic conflict takes one step closer to its ultimate end. The final moments are now at hand. Indeed, it seems the end has come for the Emperor’s beleaguered forces. The Khan lies on the edge of death. Rogal Dorn is encircled, fighting his own war at Bhab Bastion. Guilliman will not reach Terra in time. Bereft of his brothers, Sanguinius – the Angel of the Ninth Legion – waits on the final battlements, hoping to rally a desperate band of defenders and refugees.
