About this deal

The Twin Major Pushchairis a custom-built, double pushchair designed for older children who have difficulty walking and is registered. A strong. lightweight and compact double buggy which has been tested to 50kg in each seat, although when using the Specialist Flexi-Connectors, which easily ‘joins’ the two single pushchairs together, we recommend a max weight of 35kg per seat. Suitable for children from around 2 years old up to the age of approx 10 years. Suitable for families with twins or with one older child has special needs but they also need to transport a younger sibling. Mainsteam and special schools as well as other carers and organisations have also found this twin stroller useful where they need to accommodate a range of ages and disabilities.

Size 1 and 2 Soft-Touch Liners and Soft-Touch Sitters can be inserted into the Special Tomato EIO. The Soft-Touch Liner easily attaches to offer contoured body support for additional positioning and the pushchair still folds with it in place. Adding Soft-Touch Sitters will provide more trunk support for your child. Both sold separately. The ergonomic, padded seat was loved by our tester’s two-year-old who slept soundly when out and about, but the near-flat recline, adjustable leg rest and built-in newborn flaps also allow you to use the Metro+ from day one. Plus, it's car seat-compatible (with adapters). Offering a range of configurations, convertible pushchairs are ideal for twins or siblings of different ages. It is worth noting that in most cases, the addition of a second seat unit or carrycot will impact the basket space of the pushchair so it's advisable to compare this across different pram brands. Most major airlines offer 1-2 free additional baby items alongside the set baggage allowance, i.e. pushchair, travel cot, car seat or booster seat. It’s always worth investing in a travel bag to protect your pushchair against dirt and scratches as it is likely to be thrown around in the hold. Matt made detailed notes on each product, scoring them out of a total of 48 points on how well they performed in each area. When the final scores were in, the products that performed the best were included in our round-up. About the author

Easy to transport and compact for easy storage, types range from the simplest of umbrella strollers to sturdier, more luxurious models. Genuine birth to toddler options are increasingly hitting the market though (complete with a full recline and parent-facing seat), aimed at parents looking for a compact travel solution as soon as their baby is born. We’ve included some options like these in our testing. Why use a lightweight stroller?

Double

Parents often look to strollers when they're ready to move on from bulkier travel systems, seeking a less complicated solution for grandparents or something less fussy to take on holiday. Lightweight buggies often take up less room than full-sized travel systems or more traditional prams and, unlike the latter options, don’t always have fully-reclining, newborn-friendly seats.

While the pushchair does come with a rain cover, there’s no footmuff or bumper bar included (these can be bought separately). But the Cybex Libelle is a great option for parents who want to move around with minimal fuss. A bonus? It comes already pre-assembled. We think this buggy offers parents and children something new and exciting as its trendy looks, ergonomic design and luxuriously padded ‘Airgo’ breathable seat(s) make this all terrain pushchair stand out in the crowd…in the right way! Cool colours, sporty styling and the puncture-proof wheels (12″ rear/10″ front) all combine to make this buggy aesthetically appealing and not ‘medical’ looking. The Joggster Trail Buggy is ideal for children with physical disabilities, or who require restraint, to help them pursue an active lifestyle. Calf support: You may want some extra cushioning around the calf area to make it more comfortable for your child as an extra feature. The great thing about a convertible pushchair is that it can be used interchangeably between one or two children so it’s an economical option for first-time parents who plan to have a second child soon after baby number one. Thanks to its quilted seat fabric, leatherette handlebar and a choice of frame colours, the Didofy Aster 2 is a practical lightweight stroller that will also turn heads. And while the infinite recline mechanism is meant to be one-handed, it does feel clunky which isn’t ideal if you have a sleeping baby. The seat does, however, have a lovely, cushioned leatherette bumper bar to give parents extra peace of mind. Travel systems tend to be the go-to for parents of newborn babies because they're compatible with carrycots and baby car seats – the latter of which allows parents to transfer their baby from car to pushchair and vice versa with minimum hassle. Whatever the age of your child, a good pushchair is highly recommended. Pushchairs are a safe and immensely convenient way to get around with your little one.

The Joggster Trail is a sturdy, sporty looking single or double pushchair which is suitable for an older child with special needs and with an additional ‘ Shuttle Seat‘ it becomes a tandem buggy for two! For most standard buggies the increased weight of the child is a limiting factor (most standard buggies max weight limit is 15kg) but not so for the superior build quality of the Joggster Trail Buggy as it has a large seat with a maximum seat capacity of 34kg (approx 5-6 years old) and the additional ‘Shuttle Seat’ has 15kg weight capacity (approx 3-4 years old). Please note: you should always measure/weigh your child/children to ensure this is a suitable option for them. If you are seeking funding, please call us as we may be able to help you by providing advice and details of charitable organisations that help parents who require financial assistance. If you want a pushchair for a newborn or a baby under six months, you’ll need a pram or a pushchair with a carrycot attachment so they can lie flat. If your little one is older, you’ll need a buggy and stroller suitable for a toddler. The compact frame easily wheels through small or tight spaces, and the stroller can be folded down with just one hand, although it took our parent tester, Laura, some time to master. It’s petite enough to fit into a medium-sized car boot (although you may have to remove the parcel shelf in smaller cars) and can be left freestanding once folded on public transport. The Metro+ only comes with a rain cover, but there’s a host of reasonably priced accessories – including different coloured sun canopies – that you can buy for adding your own touches.

Peach 7 Designer Collection Cerium

The seat is spacious with cosy quilted padding for extra comfort, an adjustable footrest and a multi-recline for a child up to approximately age four. It can also be used with a car seat. We’ve teamed this with the Buggypod IO, an innovative clip-on pushchair side seat and single pushchair in one! Simply attach to the side of the pushchair, transforming it into a ‘double’ buggy when needed, and folding up neatly when not. Amazing! The stroller comes with a host of extras which goes some way to justifying its price. The UPF 50+ extendable hood is a decent size, the 5kg shopping basket is more than big enough for everyday essentials, and the rain cover keeps your child completely dry. There’s also a bumper bar which can be folded down with the buggy. And for kids who need a little more positioning, the Size 1 and 2 Soft-Touch Liners and Soft-Touch Sitters can be inserted into the Special Tomato Jogger and an optional head support attached. The Soft-Touch Liner easily attaches to offer contoured body support for additional positioning and the pushchair still folds with it in place. Adding Soft-Touch Sitters will provide more trunk support for your child. Both sold separately. Special Tomato Jogger shown with Soft Touch Liner (Seat Cushion) Most lightweight strollers are designed for easy folding and storage. They often feature one-hand folding mechanisms, making them convenient to fold up and store in small spaces, such as car boots or airplane overhead compartments. What’s the difference between a lightweight buggy and a travel system?
