Sparkle Sheffield (I nformation, general support group stuff, workshops and talks, help with forms, school talks and are now a registered charity too.) Other Online Groups She writes that autistic "girls" do not understand nor like gender roles but will (and have to) accept them later on in life. By saying that, she only reinforce these norms.

Girl: “What’s wrong with you? Haven’t you ever loved someone for years, then watched them walk away and then rip out your heart? Why can’t you show any emotion?” This sensitive and warm book, complete with insightful text and lovely drawings will surely encourage the peers of kids with Asperger Syndrome (AS) to better understand, empathize with, and accept their Aspie pals. The afterword by Dr Tony Attwood will additionally help the adult readers of the book come to an even deeper awareness that can then lead the way for more meaningful discussion of ASD. What I expected: A book about women/girls with ASS (very unfortunate initials here) and their experiences.

Even in social behaviours I can’t do that. I kinda am like a pessimist in the Internet, I just think from what I learned like above. Cause of course, my classmates doesn’t understand this Language I’m speaking, so they just think me of different to them. So I am just technically different to THEM but not different to the others. And why? But to me people are like animals in a zoo, there I said it. Facsinating, annoying, subjects to study and help. I would help and animal or a person, the difference is not very clear. One of my autist friends was a med doctor who died saving his rescued animals in a fire. He was also seen as a great doctor who fought for his patients. But he privately told me he saw no great difference between helping people or animals, and now he died for that belief. Who is crazy, him or the ‘normal’ people? But there is certainly a difference. Call it lacl of ’empathy’ or whatever. no clinically significant delay in cognitive development or in the development of age-appropriate self-help skills, adaptive behavior (other than in social interaction), and curiosity about the environment in childhood

TM: Yeah I do for sure. I think that culturally that females are expected, they have certain expectations on then more so than males do. And I think that makes it much more challenging for them to try and fit in. And if they don’t feel like they don’t want to look like how society wants them a woman to look that there might be something wrong with them, as they’ve told me. With age, too, comes the ability to indulge in or refrain from the inveterate and sometimes involuntarily issued puns and non-sequiturs an Aspie might inflict on coworkers and acquaintances. I do it on purpose, now. Or it could be the Search Results Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon that Cory said, cause if I read it correctly. That means that I could just be different to my Classmates? no.9: The scenero at hand is pretty much how my classmates react to me. I have been called an “emotionless robot” before. Furthermore, one of the guiding theories behind autism is Theory of Mind deficit. Yes, it’s not the only theory, but it is one of the big three (WCC and systemizing vs. empathetic brain being the other two.

There were many things I could relate to, but there is still around 50% that I don't relate to at all. What frustrated me most was how she writes about Aspergirls as women who often have temper meltdowns and depression. This is not the case for me and quite some other women AT ALL. In fact I'm someone who rarely gets angry. Really. Most of the women Simone interviewed seemed very emotionally unstable and extremely childish. The latter is also an aspect Simone touches upon a lot. She makes it seem like all Aspergirls are very emotionally immature and don't get along with people their own age and older. I mean... what!? Everyone tells me I have a very old soul and I get along much more with people who are older than me. Sure, I know this is not the case for every Aspergirl, but it did really bug me that Simone paints a picture of Aspergirls as people who all prefer to hang out with those who are at least 10 years younger than them. TM: Sure, my name is Tania Marshal and I’m a psychologist over here in Australia, and I work primarily with high functioning neurodiverse people, in particular females. Females are widley under recognized in the world. An area that we’re quite concerned about. no.5: I have some interests in which I have made it my mission to become very knowledgeble in. This usually just scares others so I keep it to myself. encompassing preoccupation with one or more stereotyped and restricted patterns of interest that is abnormal either in intensity or focus

This is a good book. I have nothing negative to say about it except that it partly makes the assumption that society is not responsible for its share of acceptance. Diversity should be actively valued by all people. However I completely agree that an Aspergirl cannot wait for anyone to accept her and accommodate her so it is up to her to get what she needs and to take care of herself and to make an effort to "fit in" with the worlds way of doing things. That doesn't mean measuring success to a standard that is not your own however, and Rudy agrees. The overall tone of this book is very empowering and positive. It urges parents to step up to the plate but only after the Aspergirl herself is implored to look within. We go round and round with the ‘do/don’t have empathy’ talk, every time someone brings it up. But whatever word you use there needs to be a way to describe an unusual lacuna: Stay tuned for my next post in which I'll describe even more 'ah-ha!' revelations that led me to realize that I, too, am an Aspie -- an AspieGirl...! Guy: “I am happy. I can pay off my mortgage faster. Look, I’m smiling. Doesn’t that mean I’m happy?” She does state that psychic sensitivity [in Autistic folks?] hasn't been proven by science yet, but most of the language / phrasing she uses is matter-of-fact.

TM: Wow that’s a big area because what we do know from even just recent research study, but I’ve known this for quite some time but there is time in between clinical evidence and research based evidence that females are at a very vulnerable, due to their social naivety, do get taken advantage of a lot. When it comes to dating, I think it’s really important that they learn about safety skills and what to do if they don’t feel comfortable and when not to put themselves in a place where they maybe unsafe because of their literalness or they misinterpret other people’s intentions which get them into quite some danger. So I think having a mentor about dating and reading about dating and how to be safe is extremely important. So when I work with teenagers and girls depending on where they are developmentally we’re often talking about safety in dating and what’s appropriate and what’s not appropriate. And how to protect yourself and things like that. HR: Tell our audience here, what you feel the big differences are between Aspie in women and guys with Asperger’s. Even if they think I’l lying about how my Classmates saying I’m the worst one in our class even though technically they are WAY more destructive than I am, and I’m not exaggerating much Some (mostly abstract) informations are very interesting and useful, but there is a lot of issues with this book:My own death scares me because it is unscheduled and out of my control. And I don’t like pain. Logically I can see others also don’t like pain, and it’s a good thing to help them avoid it. If they can’t avoid it I can teach mindful coping, which I also practice. On November 1st, 2021, a Facebook [10] [11] post of Ashbie standing up to the Wojak girls portrayed as bullies ( Doomer Girl and Daddy's Girl) went viral and within a few days got more than 1.2 million views, 22K+ shares, and 12K+ likes. aspie girl, ashbie, apustaja, ashbie moon, aspie, asd, aspergers, autism acceptance, autism is my superpower, please be patient i have autism, wojak, neurodivergent, neurodiversity, neurodiverse, hello kitty, sanrio, vr, autism, r/aspiememes, introvert Another major problem for me, is how she lets the reader think that most Aspergirls have a major passion, are highly intelligent, and love technology. She doesn't literally say that EVERYONE is like this, but she jokes around about it a lot in a way that makes you think that really 90% of Aspergirls are like this. There are more pseudoscience and opinions given as facts, like us females don't care about femininity; that we (women) become less attractive as we get older, so there's less pressure to maintain our appearance (p. 206); that Autism could be linked to not being breastfed, our mother's had poor diets of processed foods, sugars, etc. (p. 199)
