The antidotes to our ailments are drawn from Qur’ānic verses and authentic ahādīth (Prophetic sayings), inspiring mindfulness of the Almighty Cherisher and His Beloved Prophet.

My most favourite element of the handbook was the sections highlighting the exceptions of each illness. ‘Exceptions’ display symptoms that are not representative to the spiritual illness but are in fact Islamically valid. The idea of the book is to use it as a means of self-purification – the principles of the book are underpinned by the Qur’an and authentic Hadith.It is the memory of the practicality of this small book coupled with my long-term preoccupation with the concept of ‘self-purification’ which brings me to this point. The author has put in a lot of hard work to ensure that the reader can reflect and ponder over his shortcomings, which is a continuing duty upon a Muslim. This work will enable the reader to self-analyse and assist him or herself in meeting their Creator with a 'sound heart'.
