About this deal

Because ACOMAF has it all – Beautiful writing, twisty plot Amarantha points out that she never said when she would release Tamlin from the curse, just that she would. Using magic, Amarantha starts breaking Feyre’s bones, demanding that she confesses that she never loved Tamlin. As she is dying, Feyre finally guesses the answer to the riddle; as specified in the bargain, all of Spring Court is released immediately.

Feyre became a very strong character in this book, Sarah knows how to work in that character development! She knew how to fight for herself and always wanted to be there to help in times of need. And the reason for leaving the Spring Court forever was because stupid Tamlin didn't let her go anywhere and practically made the estate Feyre's new prison cell. How symbolic. Remember that time Under the Mountain, Tamlin? When your "beloved" was trapped in that same cell for three whole months? How you didn't do anything about it and watched her rot? How on her last day Under the Mountain, you wanted to have sex with her instead of trying to free her? Ever think of those things Tamlin? Doesn't seem like it because now you've recreated that same cell that's caused her so much trauma. Isn't he the greatest. Rhys clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.” The 2018 Popsugar Reading Challenge - A book about mental health.I absolutely love this book. But as a 28 year old woman, I felt her depths of despair and depression to my very soul, so I can't imagine handling all the emotions of this one when I was under the age of 18! Also I can read through the graphic scenes without them bothering me (and maybe even enjoying them).. because I am an adult. I would have 0 issue with them if this book wasn't labeled for a younger age group! Before this book, I couldn't imagine any possible reason that would make Feyre leave Tamlin and fall for Rhys. Not after everything she went through to save Tam, he was the love of her life and her feelings for him were genuine. But then of course, the author put a lot of effort in ruining Tamlin, just so Feyre could fall out of love. What SJM doesn't seem to understand is that falling out of love is normal. It's perfectly fine. You don't have to turn a character into a bad guy for that to happen. Sarah turned Tam into a villain, and that was not necessary. Overall I loved A Court of Thorns and Roses, as I am sure you can tell! I would rate it 10/10 and recommend it to teenage girls and young adults. My only criticism is how long I have to wait for the next installment! This book makes me feel so many different things at once that I have to just stop and think until I can get my head straight. It’s come up in the comments, but I do feel like it’s important to note for parents that the book has some issues around consent that they may want to discuss explicitly with kids that may still be learning how to navigate sexual relationships and communication around consent. All of the actual sex in this book is consensual, but some of the sexual touching is not. And, the narrative more or less portrays this as sexy or justifies it. Most notably, there is a sexual interaction where one person verbally tells the other to stop touching them during a sexual encounter, and the person doing the touching continues. The next morning the nature of the encounter is discussed as being the fault of the person who asked that the touching stop. There is also sexual touching / forced sexual dancing that occurs when characters are very intoxicated and a forced kiss. The narrative more or less justifies this in the context of the plot and world building.

AGE RATING – Okay so age rating, this book and the other books in the series have a couple explicit intimate scenes which I think aren’t really suited to younger readers so if you look online many parents say that it should not be a YA (young adult) book and is suited for teen over the age of 17 but overall people say that 15+ is what this book should be rated. I really don’t think it depends on so much the age but the reader’s maturity and knowledge on the subject, for example, you could have a 15-year-old with the maturity of a 9-year-old so you wouldn’t give the book to that kid but you could have a 13-year-old with the maturity of an 18-year-old. So I believe that it really just depends on the persons’ maturity and understanding of the topic but with that, I’m not saying give this book to a 9-year-old to read that’s not what I am saying at all. So I would say this book would be okay for 14 + maybe even a 13-year-old but anything younger I would not recommend but also take in their maturity as they may even be more mature than a 17-year-old.Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Nesta and Elain were turned into High Fae. And Lucien is mated with Elain. Crazy, am I right?!
